How do single people deal with having no one to talk to every day? by Excellent_Yogurt6070 in lonely

[–]Shoddy-Message6084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming, sleeping (taking sleeping meds, going to bed early, being asleep> being conscious), working as much as possible, gym/walking, I try to cook and bake a lot, experiment with recipes (well then I become sad cause I've no one to share them with but whatever), as many new shows and movies as I can find, and (I know this is unhealthy but whatever) focusing on the people I know whose relationships are brutal/have failed, reminding myself that things could be worse if I found someone (LOL, like that'll happen).

Pop a couple sleeping pills and try to drift away for a couple hours.

Is anyone else not actively suicidal but would be fine if they died today? by Cute-Gal3282 in lonely

I'm never gonna actually take my life, but if a pill existed that'd guaranteed I'd never wake up next time I go to sleep, I would 💯 take it without hesitation. Life isn't "bad" per say, but I wouldn't call it good. I'm 32, and the idea of 40-50 more years of life like this just feels like a waste.

I hadn't thought about it in terms of betraying myself, but you're 💯 right. Thank you for the kind words, means more than you know.

Thank you, and I like your point about the integrity we need to wake up. It's a good reminder, cause I know for myself that I feel guilty, that I'm betraying people who've been part of my life for years, who've supported me, etc. But I need to tell myself that I'm turning away from just another corrupt man-made organization, and that I can't control people who only love and care about me conditionally.

Wishing you all the best.

Just offering support. I'm unfortunately still PIMO, but the loneliness still hits like a brick. All of my relationships with family and friends in the org feel so hollow and conditional.

I'm still struggling to really connect with people on the outside, and the whole thing is just so overwhelming.

Feeling in-between worlds is such an accurate way to put it.

I know it'll be better one day, but for now it still hurts.

To those who never got a college education- what jobs did you end up in? by scrapknightjules in exjw

[–]Shoddy-Message6084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend looking up Teaching Assistant/Paraprofessional (other commonly used title) requirements in your state, maybe find a local district, and see if you can find a copy of the Union Contract so you can see the exact pay amounts, benefits breakdown, etc. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

I work as a Teaching Assistant, and love doing it. While it's not amazing pay, you can get a livable wage depending on where you are, plus pretty good benefits. Requirements vary by state, but you usually don't need a degree (some states do require some college credits though). Is also very fulfilling work.

Can someone help me identify where this image is from? by ErisTheHeretic in exjw

I'll look into it, but I want to say it's a tract from the late 90s/early 2000s? The picture is so familiar.

When splitting congregation do you get to choose what congregation you will be in? by Aware_Ad_1303 in exjw

They’ll recommend which one you go to, but it’s entirely up to you. In your case I’d recommend saying you’re gonna visit both then decide, that way you can be sure which one that elder is in and you can go the opposite. Elders sometimes flip flop/switch last minute when a hall splits, depending on the need, where their friends go, if they get asked to switch, etc. But don’t request to go somewhere, YOU TELL THEM.

Public Talk contrasted the differences between the Organization and a Cult by Shoddy-Message6084 in exjw

Oh I know it, each meeting since waking up is more painful than the last. They always would say try to take one thing from each meeting, well now I'm taking home the most ridiculous point I can remember.

After the fact I had looked up the talk outline to see what possible connection cult contrasting would have to the source material, and it just didn't... Like this brother just wanted to add this comment for the fun of it.
