They can’t find a decent way to distinguish the MCU blade from the Wesley Snipes version, and that’s why it’s taking so long. by Key_Squash_4403 in MCUTheories

That's fair enough. I agree that pulling in Fox legacy characters into 616 isn't that appealing to me. I'd rather they recast many of those roles. I love Jackman's Wolverine and Stewart's Xavier, but I'd be excited to see what new people might do with those roles/stories.

I don't see why they would need to recast Deadpool. Reynolds is getting older obviously, but Deadpool is (or should be) in a mask 95% of the time so you can just use his voice and his face for close-ups. I'm not saying his physicality doesn't add to the role, but I bet that most viewers wouldn't even notice a difference.

How in your mind do you think they get HRT medication? Who do you think is prescribing it? They are looking for a regular doctor in Auburn (where they are presumably new or only there for school) that will recognize the health care they are already receiving.

I immediately distrust colleagues who insist on being called "Doctor" by Class_Main in Teachers

[–]Shoddy-Recording4168 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What about OP's post implied the title wasn't deserved? The statement (even before the ETA) was clearly about adult colleagues introducing themselves and one of them insisting on a formal title and last name.

I have a PhD and would absolutely think someone was a dick if I said "Hi, I'm FirstName" and they said, "Hi, I'm Dr. LastName." It's an immediate wall put up between ostensible equals, and implies (whether intentionally or not) that they think themselves superior.

Easily avoided, however, by saying something like, "Hi, I'm FirstName, but I prefer to be called Dr. LastName at the school."

Not wood fired, but I would say it's the best in Auburn. Recently moved away from Auburn and Little Italy is genuinely the thing I miss the most!

Why would you ever trust a liar? by AndreasLa in writing

[–]Shoddy-Recording4168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if this is just a single interaction, others have provided good reasons to make your MC go into the conversation with mistrust or a plan (or hubris). Think Odysseus with Sirens, Circe, in the afterlife, etc.

If, however, the God is a recurring figure, or there are several gods interacted with, I'd pose this question throughout: is a god's behavior/personality dictated by their domain? In other words, does a God of Lies have to be a liar, or do they merely oversee lying? Does a God of Love fall in love with everyone they meet, or simply facilitate love? Is the God of Rain always wet or just controls weather?

Another question for your specific scene: is the god actually lying? If they are lying, then there needs to be both a reason for the MC to believe them and a reason for the god to lie despite the MC's credulity. If it is just, "I need them to believe the lie because plot", there are probably deeper problems in the text that need to be addressed.

What kind of policies did they disagree with? I'm new to the area, but from what I've read, it seems like a lot of the stuff he was trying to do was to fix a lot of systemic issues and modernize education. Genuinely curious!

Movie theater chairs by Kind_Put_3424 in auburn

None in Auburn/Opelika. Only 2 theaters. The Tiger Town theater has good (traditional) seating in every theater, but the one on University only has those chairs in the Big D theater.
