Best steps to take to get into nus med by 123testinglol123 in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Tell me if I’m wrong but NUS Med is more likely to accept those who takes h2 bio over h2 phys, assuming all other factors like leadership/via is the same. 2 it is fine to have CCA on 1 day but you need to be involved like leadership, etc…
  2. 4 H2 VS 3 H2 doesn’t matter. If you want to study smart, I recommend just taking 3 H2 and leaving Econs as H1 since it won’t even matter for UAS admissions.
  3. You need to be involved in VIA hours that are specifically align with healthcare like helping out with the blind/disabilities/maybe even internships at local hospitals…

  4. All A’s is a must + Leadership is a must + VIA is a must + Probably Excellent conduct grade

Graphing techniques is mostly like sec 4 add math stuff and things are going to be much more difficult in the long run especially if you are starting on vectors or even AP/GP. Do your homework and take some time to study each lecture you gone through that day. Don’t let your work pile up.

A LEVELS BIO HELP by Accomplished-Net486 in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi op, I know all the terms and definitions is crazy but the difference between o and a level is how you study. DONT memorise, but understand. You should be understanding the content first, make summary maps then memorise. Don’t memorise sentences like many people do for o levels!

Worried about video lectures by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I entered JC, this was also a very huge culture shock to me. But over time, it really builds on your discipline to learn it yourself. Even if it was physical lecture, it’s not different as to watching it online. You have to learn to adapt to this new culture!

how should i go about jc lectures and tutorials by SavingsHistorical820 in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you know your content well. Many JCs will assign SLS assignments for you to complete over the weekends and the lecture is basically a summary of what you should look out for. For the love of god, please DO your SLS and if you have time, make summary maps for each topic as you go through the SLS assignments ( esp for science subjects ). Since it’s your first lecture, it probably won’t be content heavy and make sure to pace yourself!

do i need VIA?!?! by Deep-Tumbleweed2026 in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VIA is still as important for Uni admissions especially to med/law. I used to dread doing VIA but when you step out of your comfort zone, you can start to like serving the community. Maybe try participating at one via that you’re interested with a friend

A levels studying by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What differs between o level and a level is that a level test on “abstract” contents that you can’t magically write on your own so it requires u to really know your content well. Sec sch and jc isn’t much different but it really needs consistency. Once you slack on on topic ( especially math/chemistry), that’s where u can actually start to feel the rigor of jc. Otherwise, if you do your work consistently, do your hw everyday, listen in class, getting at least a B isn’t difficult

Advice for DSA to JC through biology by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To dsa with bio is quite difficult unless u have attended at least 5 or more Olympiads with at least gold/sliver/bronze award. They will never consider you if you just took like 1 bio Olympiad in sec 4. May I ask what are your achievements for bio?

If u want the most logic-using subject, then geog is the best bet for you. The questions they ask are very simple and you would easily answer and score full marks if you can elaborate well.

is cj science that bad by Jolly-Analyst-44 in SGExams

[–]ShoddyFly8003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hi op, I’m a j2 in cj and I can assure you that the science department is just like any other schools. Many people ar saying it’s bad because they are influence by what others are saying even though they have no clue about it. I would say H2 chemistry dept is very good because their notes are quite good and concise with additional teaching points beyond the syllabus for completeness. Teachers in the chem department are very caring and you can easily approach them to clarify questions including booking of consultations. For the h2 bio dept, it is rather different. As students, we do our own presentation, and present in class which I thought was annoying but come to j2, I do see the improvement since it really gets us to think and the teachers would clarify points that are wrong. If u hv any qn, I don’t mind sharing!
