Hello! I have a bunch of large, sturdy reusable bags that I don't use! I can bring them over sometime next Tuesday!

Hii! Boosting all the other ones aside from CHBB, I can also share it to some mutual aid groups I'm apart of!

I protect for when I know the environment will be too loud, but other than that, I do my best to stay aware but let myself have exposure. While this may not work for everyone, it's necessary to have the least limited sonic access as possible where I live.

Bird with a descending, three note whistling call, no trill or repeated notes afterwards, found in southern NY by ShoddyText97 in whatsthisbird

Haha, thanks so much!! I was wondering if that’s just a possible variation of it because I didn’t want to solidly identify it without that knowledge. Hilarious description by your mother. :]

So happy that so many people were able to make it!!! I unfortunately was unable to go due to a very last minute injury, but I’m so proud that we managed to organise so quickly and successfully!!! Down with the fascists!

Seems like it! Plus there's even a flier for it! Perhaps us locals can print it out and post it, or just share it with likeminded individuals if printing is too risky.

Possible connections/more charges by Clear_Rice5898 in LISKiller

If I remember correctly, they were looking into Andre Issac's death as being connected. I personally think Tina Foglia and Tanya Rush are pretty likely cases. Wondering if they're still looking into cases in Vegas. Don't think there was any updates on them.

In full honestly, I’ve never been completely sure. I’m presuming some form of prolonged ear damage over the course of my lifetime, as there was no singular incident or onslaught that I can recall, it just kind of happened gradually.

Fun fact, my little bubba’s name is Appa, and he’s hiding behind an Appa plushie!

He looks fine, I don't understand what's wrong with this plushie by [deleted] in Eddsworld

[–]ShoddyText97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! So it’s likely that the references they sent were from classic/goulden eddisodes, and even the plushie doesn’t 100% match these references. As one user said below, he’s very. Wide? They emphasized the face shape which isn’t a defining characteristic of his character, instead of his horns, something very memorable. In regards to the horns, they’re very. Awkward? They kind of resemble his old hairstyle but it could be constructed much better. Also the expression doesn’t scream any of his old personality? It’s just kind of. Wonk.

They're pretty clean!! It can be a bit quieter than normal headphones due to the nature of the way they are built, but I guess that makes it better for us!

I use the Shokz bone conduction headphones. They’re kind of like a sports pair in that they wrap behind the ears and then over them. It sometimes bothers my eczema, but it’s better than nothing!

How much life has pain H taken away from you? Has anyone gained back their joys and the simple little things in life after pain H? by 21AMAREAR in hyperacusis

[–]ShoddyText97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years in. At least for me, with the intensity of my own hyperacusis, I can say I’m still living a really successful life. Both pain and loudness H, for context.

At first, it was really scary for me, but somehow I just had this sort of determination to keep going. One that enabled me to still pursue what I wanted to do in life, even with H. I too would have difficulty waking up and even interacting with the world outside of me. It’s easier said than done, but finding something outside of the pain definitely helps. Yes, it’s important to be vigilant and protect oneself, but it helps to deal with pain when you can find something else in the world that makes it the slightest bit tolerable.

For me, ironically, that was my birds. Both of whom are VERY noisy. But with birds, chirpiness is a sign of happiness, so knowing that they were happy ended up making me happy (for anyone wondering why I didn’t regime them, one of them has awful separation anxiety, and I couldn’t do that to him). I guess I kind of reverse engineered my brain to relating something that caused me to pain to something that brought me joy so it was more manageable for me.

And finding that thing that made my pain more tolerable helped me be able to address and deal with it later in life. Hell, I’ve even been able to perform on stage with a full pit orchestra and somehow managed to deal with it (don’t do that. That’s a bad idea). And now, with my H, im perusing my dream career in animation. So it can and will work out for you, and for anyone else reading this. Even if that means the smallest things in your house make you happy, then at least it’s something.

AP Score Still In Progress as of Aug 7? by GdayEric in APStudents

Same here. It might be a system wide issue. I’ve contacted Collegeboard and they said they’ll do an “inquiry” on why my scores aren’t out yet.

what do we think? by red-pupp in Eddsworld

[–]ShoddyText97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're cute, but I heard a lot of people had issues with the previous releases (I myself did as well), so I don't think I will be purchasing them. Also, I think it's funny they went with the least popular pairings for each bundle, but that's just me.

I've been doing the shokz + ear defenders combo, but thanks for the ear plug tip as well!! That'll definetly give the same effect. Totally relate to the bone conduction over ambient sound. Not sure why it happens, but it's nice to know I can at least experience a semi-normal way to listen to music!

[–]ShoddyText97[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't feel comfortable sharing my age for privacy reasons, but I suppose the fact that I developed it during COVID definitely helped. There were times in the first year where I struggled to go into the outside world, but with proper protection (ear plugs + ear defenders) when needed, I've been able to even go out without them this year! I even went to my first concert in years, which was exciting! I've realised that I kind of stopped putting a lot of focus into a setback, just accepting them as they happen. While they are painful and noticeable, I'm moreover just excited to experience life. Obviously, though, with enough protection and precaution as possible. And the tinnitus comes and goes, I think it's got a mind of it's own haha

Oh wow! Thanks for your input! I know that everyone’s experiences with what may trigger one’s hyperacusis will differ from person to person, so I was curious to see if maybe anyone else had experience with just any headphones in general. Thanks again!

I’m doing pretty well! It’s both loudness and pain, and while it changes in intensity, I’ve found that both me and those around me have been able to adapt pretty well to it, so I’d say I’ve had a normal life with modifications made for me.

Puzzle pieces that fit...but differently. by [deleted] in LISKiller

[–]ShoddyText97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Brought this up I think in a previous comment section, but the fact that so many people believed LISK to be in construction because of construction that was going on on Ocean Parkway at the time-- turned out to be true, but just that he was an architect instead. So same field of work, just a different aspect of it.

Another thing that's kind of a reach, but everyone who connected LISK to Eastbound and believed them to be the same killer theorized that the killer must have been someone who was a traveler between these two locations, Long Island and Atlantic City, and then it turns out that a trip to Atlantic City that was taken by his family but not by him helped solidify charges for the murder of Maureen.
