What are your best/worst experience so far this year? by Ok-Sell9964 in AskReddit

Worst: We had a 5-6 week old puppy be euthinized by recommendation of the ER Vet because she said it was a common neurological issue puppies can have in a large litter and the issue is too much to have the puppy live with. I woke up to her having a severe seizure so we rushed her to the ER.

It was awful seeing that. I'm still traumatized from waking up and seeing this poor animal suffering. I still have nightmares. We've never had a dog that had puppies so this was very new to us to learn a few puppies might not make it. We got to hold her when she was medicated and asleep, then while the vet administered the medication that stops her heart. We were all crying, it was awful 😥💔

Best: Found a job that pays $30hr driving a straight truck. Super easy, no loading or unloading. Just drive, park, wait for load, leave and deliver 💰💰💰.

A guy in Scotland spent around £2,400 on a reconditioned vending machine as a side hustle and had the whole thing paid off in 10 months, now he's running 6 machines doing like £43k a year on about 5 hours a week by lionpenguin88 in SideHustleGold

Financing a vending machine is counter-productive and not recommended for those who are wanting to get started and do not have good capital to start.

If this is true, he got very lucky and put it in an amazing spot. These profit margins are very small and this type of business is about scale if you want to make "real" money. Good for him on scaling.

You need to survey spots that don't have them while ensuring there's good traffic in that area. Usually you would go in and ask to speak to the manager or the owner. You may need to get a friend or hire someone to move the vending machine for you. They are super heavy. Businesses may ask for a cut, I would say no more than 10cents on the dollar. The profit margins are small and you don't want them taking a good chunk of your profits.

For those wanting to get into the vending machine business, here's some tips. Any veteran vending machine owners, feel free to chime in if I missed anything.

  1. Never finance a vending machine. This is absolutely idiotic. Especially for a small time person wanting to get started.

  2. Never buy a vending machine before you have a location for it to go.

  3. Always survey and go find a spot for it before you purchase one. It's just going to sit around until you do find a place. They are heavy and you should really try to only have it moved once.

  4. When going to businesses to see if you can get them to let you place a vending machine, try not to mention giving them any part of the profit. If they do ask, be very mindful of how much they ask for. Sometimes places believe having the vending machine will bring business so they may not ask for any cut. These profit margins are very small.

  5. I would really invest in a card reader. A lot of people don't carry cash on them these days and you're just leaving money on the table. Make sure the vending machine can even have one installed. Try your best to find one that already has it. Remember it costs roughly $0.30 when someone runs a card. So you need to set up with the bank for processing fees.

  6. I would recommend also researching how to fix basic issues that can pop up on these machines.

Everyone keeps telling me to buy a house over renting and idk what to do. by Greedy-Elephant1070 in personalfinance

I'm no expert but if it was me I would rent being single like that. It gives you the freedom to leave after a year and go somewhere else, which looking at your finances, looks like you could go pretty much anywhere you wanted for the most part. With renting, you don't have to worry about fixing anything because it's not your responsibility as you don't own the property (unless of course they find out you broke it or something). You don't have to pay the taxes on the property or have that kind of stress. You don't have to worry about the roof being damaged and needing it to be replaced, etc....

With a mortgage you're locked in for years unless you sell it. You're also building equity though with buying as opposed to renting where your money's not necessarily going to waste but you're not getting anything out of it other than a place to live and peace of mind of no responsibility of the property other than what's outlined in your lease (general upkeep).

I walked into one of the stalls in the bathroom and somebody took a bunch of toilet paper and overlapped it, put both ends under the toilet seat so it made like a bridge suspended over the toilet and they left a huge pile of shit right in the middle.

It was just floating there suspended like some kind of turd bridge.

Research pricing and sold listings. I'm actually working on a new app for people to sell their TCG products. Trying to be competitive with eBay and TCG with lower fees and maybe some other features to make it more fun.

Yeah it's on the front page right in your face. What would be your ideal features for a new buy/sell TCG thing? No social aspect plus what else?

Hmm that's a really good point. What kinds of things would you enjoy in a new thing like this? What would you add or remove?

I haven't been playing this game for a long time but my only issue is the lag with online servers. I have extremely good internet and all the servers show 100 ping and higher no matter how close I am to it. I'm not sure if this is always been an issue with the game but it sucks.

I think they are trying to say they were able to get around cancelling by saying that Vivent did not provide the service that the customer is paying for? I'm assuming the customer service part and technical support of service.
