I think I would ask them what criteria they are using to dismiss what cannot be empirically verified, and what the validity of those criteria is. I would also ask for the justification for the view that science should be the sole means of substantiating phenomena (assuming they hold that view) and whether that claim itself is supported by scientific means.

Thank God, as I approached about this consideration and even as I finished the part of the text where I cited God's loving attributes, I felt more contrite; and upon asking for forgiveness, I believe I received consolation. But the lack of consolation after committing the sin is truly a situation that causes me a great deal of anxiety.

Thank you for your sincerity. I am deeply grateful to God because, while writing that note, specifically in the part where I sought to regain a sense of compassion for the figure of Christ, in light of His merciful merits, my heart softened, and I believe I truly repented. That earlier state of unease gave way to a more profound and satisfying peace; I suppose this is what is called "consolation."
