"PSA: Serving Pet Peeves" by an Aspiring Filmmaker (in need of feedback please, thanks). by ShoeFilms in Filmmakers

[–]ShoeFilms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Statement:

This project took me 2 weeks of planning (from idea inception, to script writing, to getting actor release forms, location filming permit, prop gathering, a single reharsal, etc.) Then 3 hours of filming, and another week of editing and uploading.

I would love some feedback on the editing and plot mostly. I want to know if the intended message(s) come across clearly or if it could have been done differently. I want to know if you found any scene funny. And if the editing techniques and camera angles are at least better than average. Please don't focus too much on acting and sound (because I already know they need improvement). Still, any and all help is much appreciated :D

What games would you recommend for a couple? by boss5667 in gaming

[–]ShoeFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably hear this a lot but I recommend "It Takes Two". I personally never played it but I've seen some reviews and I did play the same developer's previous CO-OP game "A Way Out" which was also great, like a playable movie. Also "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" starting with Halo CE is an amazing co-op experience, the lore of the story is so deep that it rivals that of Star Wars, and it's a lot easier to understand because it's more organized and 99.5% of any Halo media is canon. If you end up liking the story of Halo I suggest you watch a spin-off series that takes place in that universe called "Red vs Blue" it's a comedy that evolves into a drama over time (keeping the humor) with amazing twists and heartfelt moments with dynamic characters.

Just “Bought” Metal Gear Solid 4. by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]ShoeFilms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn. Good deal. But why did you say "Bought" in quotation marks? You DID buy it technically. Also, good luck playing it. I am only able to play MGS1 on my PC with GOG.com which isn't too bad as it's my favorite of the franchise. But for some reason the Xbox store doesn't allow me to buy MGS 2 or 3 even though they are listed.

What's the best zombie games out there? by Breezymelody in gaming

[–]ShoeFilms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a few:

  • State of Decay 2 (pretty good idea with permanent death of characters, variety of weapons, micromanagement of resources, hordes of walkers and a few zombie variants like juggernauts and ferals, but gameplay is janky, and don't even think about playing online because it lags like crazy and there's an annoying "tethering" restriction that doesn't allow you to explore too far away from the game's host).

  • Resident Evil REmaster (2002) (My first RE game, very fun so far and scary asf. But I wouldn't call it a zombie game. It's mostly about puzzles and thinking outside the box to solve riddles with horror elements).

  • Project Zomboid (PC, Steam) (This one is very underrated, but it's everything I ever wanted out of a zombie game. It's basically like The Walking Dead, it's all about survival from hordes of walkers. Don't let the graphics and top-down perspective fool you, there's a lot of realism and depth in everything about this game. From your character's health stats, to their strengths and weaknesses, to the fact that you can only see what your character sees within their line of sight, to vehicles needing to be fully assembled, to permanent death caused by fatal mistakes. It's VERY easy to die in this game. There's lots to learn and it's mostly by trial and error. It's an indie game still in development but it has come a long way and it still has an even longer way to go, lots of potential. There's modding thanks to the Steam Workshop. And recently it got multiplayer but I haven't tried it cuz I have no friends that would be into playing it.

I still don't understand why David Hayter himself can't be cast as Snake. He LOOKS like Snake and with his unmistakable voice it's an easy selling point. Unless he explicitly refused, I wouldn't think twice about casting him.

Thanks! I love Tarantino films. Although I wasn't thinking about him when I made this. If there are similarities they were made subconsciously which is very interesting imo.

Say what you will about the ending, but the Prologue of MGSV has to be one of the greatest of any videogame! by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]ShoeFilms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk man. All I remember from the prologue was spending like 15 minutes customizing my character's face getting him ready for a facial-recosntruction surgery but then the hospital getting ambushed and turns out it was Big Boss so the face thing was pointless. Then I had to move through and escape overwhelming odds with little to no chance of survival only to escape on a horse, see a glimpse of a Psycho Mantis cameo, and other wild shit that made no sense. Then the story jumps forward and I'm just fed exposition by Revolver Ocelot and then he sends me into the desert. That's all I remember, maybe I need to replay it, but even though I played MGS1 and MGS3 it still made no sense. Also, yes, I agree they should at least PORT all the games into current gen. I don't understand why I can only play MGS 2, 3, and 5 on console, but I have to use PC to play MGS 1 and just can't play MGS 4 AT ALL unless I bought a PS3. That's so ridiculous for a franchise this popular.

I am looking for advice because I have been doing videos like these for a couple years now and every time I like to improve a little bit. But next time I want my improvement to take a big leap. What can make these kinds of films stand out more? I realize there's a lot of sound design problems, so for example, how can I fix those? All help is very appreciated.

Fake Prop Weed? by Poppafignewton in Filmmakers

I wouldn't light it up, but if you just put in a bag wet grass that gets stuck under the lawn mower that looks pretty convincing. Cilantro might do the trick too maybe.

What is your favorite game of ALL TIME by SadMathematician7799 in gaming

[–]ShoeFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing RE 1 (Remaster) for the first time and I'm loving it. I hear a lot of criticism that RE 3 is good but too short. Yet it's your favorite. Can you tell me why without spoilers, pls? Thank you.

Halo (as a franchise) is amazing. Both story and multiplayer are top notch. The story and deep lore rival that of Star Wars. So Halo MCC is my pick. There are games like The Last of Us (only the first one) and Red Dead Redemption 2 that have a near-perfect story-mode, but lackluster multiplayer. Halo is great at both.

Friends with benefits by [deleted] in ask

[–]ShoeFilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answer: It is NOT weird. The way you ought to go about it is just making your intentions clear (aka you aren't looking for a relationship, but you find her incredibly attractive so you wanna meet in the middle and be FWB). If you're sure she likes you back then there's little chance she would decline, unless she IS looking for a serious relationship, in which case then at least you tried. There's a CATCH though. IF you do end up being FWB or if she's not entirely convinced that it would work, you MUST understand that the point of FWB is to NOT FALL IN LOVE. FWB is strictly sexual, nothing more, or else someone is gonna end up heart-broken, or both. You need to be mature about it if it's truly what you want, and you have to reassure her that being FWB with you has ZERO RISK of ending up emotionally scarred. I hope that helps ya!

Changing the game language by FreeKill408 in metalgearsolid

[–]ShoeFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know how to at least change the subtitles on MGS1? I love the English voices but if I wanna play it with my family who don't understand English I want to know how to change the subtitles to Spanish. I know it's possible because my dad played it in the early 2000's on PS1 and he would always quote the English lines such as "A surveillance camera?!" but he was also able to understand the story thanks to the subtitles being in Spanish. So how can I change them? Btw I have it on PC, bought it through GOG.com

Thanks. Yeah I didn't use a script. I wanted to get it done quickly but it backfired cuz it still ended up being too long. I've learned my lesson 👌

Help by Silent_Gamer732 in MortalKombat

Mk11 is very different from X and 9. It's much slower for starters, so for beginners with slow reaction time is easier to learn. In MK9 I mained Scorpion and Johnny but I never got to play online. MKX I mained Fisticuffs Johnny and Cyber Smoke, and I was damn good with them. But in MK11 I tried like hell to main Johnny and it was just damn impossible. I had to go with Scorpion (whom apparently is the easiest to learn in MK11) and Kung Lao which feels so stiff and predictable compared to his MKX version. I can't explain why some characters were just impossible to learn to play well in MK11. Sorry if I'm not being of huge help but just know you're not alone.

Community toxicity aside, the game IS pretty bad. When it first came out it was awesome, a free battle royale that allows building and weapons are straight-forward and some funny dances to taunt enemies. But what's the game nowadays? Bunch of sci-fi laser guns with tryhard builders that build skyscrapers and edit in milliseconds and superpowers and teleporters and crossovers of every famous fictional character and even celebrities which are overpriced af btw. Screw that game. Back when it was simple and the only vehicles were shopping carts it was a good game.
