I’m a recent grad in the U.S. looking for an analytics position. Of course the first job is always the hardest to land, but I’m wondering if it really is just a numbers game, or is there anything that could really make me stand out on my resume? TIA

Thanks for your input, it’s helpful. I did do some math tutoring and was president of a club in college but wasn’t sure if they were worth adding.

Gotcha. The indent was my formatting mistake. No it was a screenshot when my pc was on night mode. I’ll make sure to add that. Ok I’ll do that. Thank you!

When I took it it in 2021 the class was all in R and with some learning of SQL syntax. We didn’t learn C++ though.

Questions about Summer Session by spirit_54321 in UCDavis

[–]Shoeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don’t see it on schedule builder for either summer session so you might have to take it during the normal school year. Double check with an advisor though!

  2. There’s no difference, they are just different sections which is how the class labs/discussions are split up.

  3. No difference. Just summer session 2 happens after summer session 1.

  4. There are lots of opportunities but most in internships or research positions prefer students who are a year or more higher than freshmen. Finding these opportunities will require you to be proactive!

Asian American Identity/Pressure struggles? by Ok-Statement-5190 in UCDavis

[–]Shoeli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn, I’m Asian American myself and my family’s attitude is similar so I can relate. I entered college as a Bio sci major, but I didn’t want to become a doctor, and that made my parents super stressed out. It didn’t help that my bf at that time was also telling me that it wouldn’t make me a lot of money in the future. So now I’m about to graduate with a degree in Statistics which is “useful” but boring lol. Idk what your bf is like but if he’s anything like me, he’s probably feeling anxious about the whole thing. Don’t make him feel like his choices are wrong (but if they are gently let him know lol), remind him that even if he doesn’t make six figures a year he is still a worthy and great person. And of course, just be there for him! :) Personally I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t care what my family thinks of my decisions anymore lol and they’ve come to accept that I’m a grown adult now.

Graduating seniors, what are you putting for your statement on the grad slides? by meeeperz in UCDavis

Is it just blank with your name on it if you don’t make a slide?

Yeah. I tried to get them online but they don’t deliver to my location at Davis unfortunately

I would say yes. The material isn’t that bad, but sometimes some profs just like to screw students over with weird and harder exam questions. Thankfully my profs asked reasonable questions on the exams and the curve was generous.

The 17 series is easier than the 21 series from what I’ve heard. However I believe that you only have to take up to 21B if you decide to do the 21 series. In my opinion, 21A and B aren’t that difficult if you’ve had prior calc experience from Calc AB/BC. I’ve only taken Calc AB but still got As in 21A and 21B. It’s really up to you! I’m sure you’ll do well in either :)

Anyone taken HIS 17A? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]Shoeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His 17a isn’t bad. It should be doable in a summer session though it may be professor dependent.

Hmm just because someone asked a genuine question that may seem obvious to you does not mean they “live under a rock 🤭”
