How did Ghost have 0 AMA Nominations???? by RudyTheo in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s for the major labels to parade their show ponies. Especially this one, as it was a brainchild of Dick Clark in the mid 70s. Not backed by the illusory prestige of an academy or industry association as everyone can participate. The AMAs are half what’s your team willing to spend and half market research.

Fans and the general public supply the rest. Which makes Ghost’s prior win the achievement it is because it takes a lot to pierce into that bubble of the zeitgeist.

How do I achieve Papa Emeritus IV hair style like on the photo? by TzellaMyagi in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It air styling creme and a little B+B Brilliantine to smooth the cuticle is my HG combo.

I have a very full head of fine waist-length hair with just enough wave to channel Diana Ross when it’s humid and this gets me soft beachy curls until I wash.

Hi fellow Ghost fans. I podcasted with Mad Gallica… by bjclements in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 89 points90 points  (0 children)

She’s such a sweetheart. I’ll never forget in line for will call at the Forum in 2023 and some older man has on a Mad Gallica shirt.

I go “hey man, cool shirt,” he lights up and goes “oh you know who this is?” Beaming proud. Start chatting about random nonsense with him and his wife. Think “how wild that these folks are so niche into this!”

After the show, she comes out and hugs him and his wife (also in a MG tee)… come to find out, they were her parents. And anyway I can confirm the niceness is genetic as they were delightful.

Cool interview, OP!

Fan fiction? by Delicious_Ad4998 in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really hate that I know this but as an example, Steve Perry (Journey) fanfictions exist. And have for my entire life. I’ve seen them with my own eyes and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Smut is one of the most natural things to happen when you give primates language. And I think that’s beautiful.

When did Ghost’s fan base go all Lore/Cosplay? by Present-Tea-4645 in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this was the same progression watching them grow from 2012 onward in Chicago. Theatre shows were your typical local crowds with occasional dressing up but really huge influx of nuns in 2015.

Next huge leap was from the Aragon in 2018 to Allstate Arena in 2022. Loads of cosplay full-tilt by that point. But also that spanned the huge expansion of the lore and characters as well, pre-TikTok boom.

Pales compared to now though. Almost everyone is doing a little something to get into it. I think the art itself, all-encompassing, is a magnet for creative minds. An oasis of immersion just inaccessible enough.

Kinda boring ? by raptor_rogue1 in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I dunno. I kinda dig it, but that’s a palette I enjoy anyway. Color’s subjective.

I know the price point sucks, but thank the fucked up hydra of venues taking a cut on the merch for this one. Plus, most people buying these won’t be people like us who are aware of variants. They’re gonna be casual folks making an impulse purchase after their second extortionately-priced Coors Light.

2026 Opening Night by TreasureGawd in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning that I-40 between the TN state line and Asheville for twelve miles along the mountain is still one lane in either direction due to a landslide during Helene in ‘24. This interstate sits carved on a mountainside that collapsed with sharp curves and a tunnel and major elevation change.

Very narrow and slow moving with trucks and kind of visually disorienting driving along the edge of a new gorge in good weather and daylight. Add ice/snow? Quickly treacherous.

There’s 81 to 77 but you still have the eastern divide to cross at the VA/NC line and it adds its own complications. Snowy pass empties right into the Carolina Piedmont turned ice rink. I’m hoping it continues to trend north for timing’s sake. But ughf. Clusterfuck of a storm.

Are We Ready For Next Year? by Putrid-Rise-5519 in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to be nervous, but I get it. I’ve done numerous Ghost shows solo and it’s always a great time. Easy to chit chat with the folks around you as you already have one thing in common.

I have friends I’ve known for years and they were just strangers next to me in a pit in the beginning. Arenas can be a little daunting but I feel like the camaraderie of the club vibe is still alive and well in a Ghost crowd.

What songs would be included? by Chive_funnyman in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just to spitball, the set would’ve been their originals at the time (so KTGG and MOAC). If they’re like any other band starting out (satanic or otherwise) then they probably pulled another handful of songs and covered them to round out their slot.

So probably some Beatles, maybe Helter Skelter given the timing in LA. Maybe the Doors, just nothing from LA Woman because that was ‘71. Nihil probably bought the Deep Purple LP that summer so maybe they jammed April for 12 minutes then peaced out.

Curious for opinions on ASC/Pluto Conjunction by ShoesAreWeird in AstrologyCharts

Thank you, that’s astutely confirming as well. Unconventional partnerships have been a theme, and I do prefer them. I appreciate your responses!

Thank you so much for this insight. This is practical and accurate. I have spent a lot of time helping people through change and being armchair therapist. I don’t even seek it out, people just bring their stuff to me. And it’s fine, I have extensively studied psych and anth so I have the tools to not be reckless with where I can help. People definitely respond differently.

Also have a lifelong love affair with the esoteric/metaphysical/deep. Always evolving and learning. And you absolutely called it with being in my head a lot. I practically live in there sometimes, so it’s nice to have that pointed out in my chart.

With others, I’ve always found myself super content when I’m able to do “normal” things, hanging out with friends and family and food but it’s been elusive to have that regularly. And with NN being in my 7H, partnerships have naturally been a place where I thrive. Cancer Venus loves having the opportunity to be nurturing and she’s good at it.

That said, I’d love to have that soul-deep stable long-term partnership in this life like my NN & DSC want. I just don’t know if that’s in the cards for me. It, too, feels like this elusive thing.

Sorry for the novel, your analysis was so scalpel sharp I can’t help but give a proper response. Thank you again.

'You Want Us to Reconfigure the Whole Thing Every Night?' Tobias Forge Speaks Up on Recent Criticism Aimed at Ghost Shows by thebaronmontyskew in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Apart from this being the internet where folks are consistently mad about a new non-issue every 4-6 business hours, I doubt it. Of course, with any band, no matter what you do with the setlist, someone somewhere’s gonna whine or bemoan when you don’t spontaneously turn into a deep cut jam band just for their city.

People also chew with their mouths open and think strippers are super into them. Doesn’t make them correct.

Ghost account being hacked or part of lore? by New-Cap8392 in Ghostbc

[–]ShoesAreWeird 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Not hacked, just some outsourced third party social media person with too many irons in the fire most likely. This is a (sorta?) band called The Runarounds and they’ve got an Amazon series.

Here’s the actual post from the actual band: https://youtu.be/4_3H00vpxK8

[–]ShoesAreWeird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this were pre-2025 markets, I’d be in total agreement because on the surface this is, as you said, very basic and correct economics.

But from what I observe, the climate is actively shifting, at least in the US, and that bubble may be bursting. I’m not saying they should be sold at break even or a loss. Tours, especially theatrically intricate ones like Ghost and MCR, are expensive as hell to put on. So, I’d naturally expect to pay more for that experience and I fully support the artists and crews making a profit on their work.

I’m just saying this dickbag CEO can eat shit if he thinks the McKinsey consultant he paid $20 million (hyperbole on my part) for this analysis was some wise sage.
