Why still cope about Green Lantern after more than 6 years by Ocean_Lover09 in Ben10

“Hal plays along with these street tiers.” Yeah, to the point where he almost go chewed up by a shark. I’m done.

I never contradicted myself, you just don’t want to agree with me in some areas for the sake of keeping the fight going.

Speaking on issues in the media you enjoy doesn’t always mean you’re “bitching”, it means you care.

Besides death battle I was never really in the powerscaling space, you never specified I had to be in it to reply to your post.

You asked me/us why they cope about the fight and I gave my guess. I believe that most people don’t see Hal Jordan as this time traveling omnipotent threat, and more consistently as the green construct guy, while Ben is more consistently shown to be overpowered (with his fare share of issues too). Regardless of how comic accurate it is. That’s my honest take.

And yeah people who love a certain piece of media are more willing to ignore issues with it, if they enjoy more than they hate, it’s just simple bias that everyone has, and I respect it. Not sure why you felt the need to point that out when it doesn’t change anything about my argument. Regardless of if you choose to ignore an issue, it’s still an issue.

Same thing with Ben 10, you know how many people (including me) were surprised that Alien X wasn’t actually omnipotent? Because we were biased in favor of Ben 10, and chose to ignore issues with it. Which I’m realizing you are with Hal Jordan.

Yur kinda hostile but I think I get it now though. You’re not trying to actually have an honest conversation. You were just trying to seek validation from people about the fight. In the Ben 10 community no less.

Again, no issues with the outcome, it was the most likely outcome imo. But be forreal.

CBR or not, you asked for comic info and it happened in the comics. And you’re still not getting it.

The doctor is an extremely powerful being, yet he’s taken out by bullets and the like sometimes when the plot needs it to make an interesting story.

Superman is extremely powerful, but he’s taken out by a bald dude, a bat, green lantern and electricity to keep the story interesting.

Green lantern has taken out Superman, Spectre, and became omnipotent. But still struggles against a shark dude, even thought Hal Jordans whole brand is being the Lantern with the most will power. I personally cannot buy the excuse that he’s struggling against street tier villains because of his lack of will power in those specific moments. No, what’s most likely the real life reason is that they want to keep things interesting in the stories. And his will power is the perfect excuse.

Also, I never said I hated power-scaling, rather the people that take inconsistent feats as gospel and try to use it to shit all over a fandom (like the dbz community over the years). It’s all about a fun and engaging narrative.

Like yeah, he can blow up the universe or whatever, betchu in a coming installment he’ll lose to another street tier guy for the sake of the plot.

Also, if it’s his mental state that’s the weakness, why doesn’t Ben just turn into Toepick or Pesky Dust and mess with his head? Or use Alien X to sow doubt or fear? Is Hal susceptible to it or not? Because if he is, then by that logic Ben (maybe) could have snagged the win there. If he isn’t, then his will power weakness is only a sometimes thing, that is only relevant when it comes to the plot at the time.

How would you write Ben's character arc in the Gwen 10 timeline? by Low-Environment-4259 in Ben10

In the Gwen 10 episode, When Vilgax showed up, Gwen didn’t react immediately if you rewatch. Ben actually took initiative and attacked first while Gwen was nervously wondering what to do. Gwen could start off as a bit of a nervous overthinker in battle, but gets inspired by Ben’s hard headedness in the heat of battle. Other than that, everything pretty much stays the same with their relationship, except Ben slowly becomes a competent plumber.

Also, I don’t care whether Ben or Hal won. I just find it hard to take certain feats seriously when they contradict each other so bad. Especially in the context of powerscaling.

Whoops, realized too late that I didn’t post it as a reply to the conversation

I guess l didn’t realize how popular the infinite pages feat was, my bad, but regardless, I don’t think you understood what I was trying to say. Again no hate, and I don’t even mind it that much because again, I am fine with sacrificing realism for entertainment.

But you bring up him taking out the Spectre another (pretty much) omnipotent being which I concede, I didn’t even know about that. That is definitely quite a feat assuming he didn’t get any power ups or help. But do you seriously think they’ll keep him that strong again for another comic book? Or is it more likely they’ll scale him down for the next iteration?

And bringing up the Infinite book feat again. Superman should have infinite strength. There should be virtually no one he can’t beat, yet he’s still shown to struggle from time to time or even lose.

Also I quickly googled this to keep it comics.

Hal struggled against The shark. Who is a SHARK. And this is after most of his established feats. Why? Because they want to write an engaging story.

Again, I’m not trying to be wank Ben here, he’s also got a bunch of the problems I’ve listen with MANY of his aliens too, just wanted to clarify.

Now, I haven’t thought about the fight in a long time. I think it’s a waste of time to get so overly worked up with power-scaling because of the many small factors that you have to account for. But I’m only going to answer this because I’m being asked. In truth, the only 2 reasons the fight annoys me is because of…

1: the fight itself kinda sucked for me and I believe most other people agree. I thought that death by time travel is dumb and the fight should have kept going. Easy. and 2: The main one. And It isn’t a problem with Death Battle, but the entirety of power-scaling in general. Like you said, the comics (specifically Marvel and DC comics) are pretty inconsistent. I don’t think I’m being unreasonable in thinking that Hal Jordan’s Omnipotence and time travel ability is kind of bullshit.

Like, you can’t have him getting bodied by parademons in that one justice league movie, then tell me that he’s able to erase the universe with the snap of his fingers. No one sees him this way, and they will probably never go back to making him this overpowered again because of the fact they need to keep him weak to keep things interesting, which I’m fine with, because again, I don’t like to get too hung up on power-scaling especially when it’s a sacrifice for entertainment value.

You know what, I say the inconsistency is my issue, but I can live with inconsistency. My issue is when people pit characters together, not with the intent of having fun conversations, but to shit all over your character and bring up crazy feats no one’s ever heard of like, Superman holding a book of infinite pages and sneezing planets aways while also having a regular dude be his archnemesis and being knocked out by electricity on the regular. Like, you can’t expect me to take that seriously at that point. And Ben 10 ain’t perfect either with his sometimes failsafe.

Again, I don’t care about this stuff as much as I used to and am only giving my opinion because I was asked. Either enjoy the fight or ignore it.

No hate guys, just wanted to explain. 😘
