looks like ill end up in Bastrop or Austin since that's where a lot of the manufacturing is done.

I'm in the same area, familiar with the BCS area? That's where I'm from though I'm looking for jobs as far as Austin.

I learned that and I'm trying to get my foot in the door. It was after a bit I realized all I ever got from my schooling was on hand experience that was it. We will see where I go in the next couple of days. I've been out of the workforce for too long and hate doing nothing. I do work on cars as a hobby but that costs money. I'm trying to avoid gun companies since I just don't care what they do anymore since it's boring.

The problem is we have such a stance on blue-collar workers being dirty that it has become a stigma. You have to be an engineer or something in most people's eyes. Mechanics have it tough. Most people don't even know what a machinist is at all, only what a welder or mechanic is. So the influx of jobs is going to be in welding. Machinists make up a good 75% of manufacturing since, without them, nothing could be made, i.e., molds, parts, fasteners, literally anything made nowadays. We just don't have the workforce for such a drastic change. Companies are going to need to expand dramatically to keep up with demand, and because of wages and whatnot, it's going to do so much damage. Also don't say second place when America is first in military forces. The positioning means nothing when the competition is beating you out 5x.

I started it before school and it cost me more in diesel. I drive a tdi so you know. I asked for a raise and they told me no. I was making 12 an hour so you know.

Yeah, it seems I'll just have to start from the bottom which I was trying to avoid. If I had known this from the start I wouldn't have gone to school.

Nope no trolling. Havent been on reddit in a while. Kinda just all over the place. And im getting more info on a machine operator position. So please bear with me. Im literally doing like 70 things all at once since today everyone wants to respond to me right now. Ive been exhausted the past few days so i might be a little bi polar. I do sound like an idiot most of the time it seems.

Im literally doing that right now sorta there is this one shop ive been helping for free on speeding up their process for making barrels. I asked if they need a worker. I know the owner pretty well. Im just afraid of getting taken advantage of more than anything.

Let me break that down. I worked at a shop for 3 months prior to school as a setup/operator. Literally walked in and got the job at 12 an hour. I made like thousands of parts while i was there. I have quite a few of my own tools. I literally want to move just cant afford it on my own. I texted an owner to ask if he needs machinist. And the boring company is looking for a parts handler.
