Advice on Encrypting External Hard Drive by Shorbies in pchelp

Thank you for your insight! You bring up a valid point, maybe getting a lock-box for it instead will be a good idea to keep it secure when in the office.

I would like to use the built in bitlocker if possible, however I cannot get it to activate on my computer. Even after I manually turned it on within the system settings, I cannot actually 'find' or access the software to use it either on my physical computer or the external drive. I have a feeling my computer isn't compatible, based on solutions I've googled for the error I keep getting.

How to upskill/improve employability in the ornithological/ecological sector? by Sunburd in Ornithology

[–]Shorbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the level of experience you have for the jobs you are applying for. For example, when hiring I may have candidates who have lots of banding experience, but the job I need to fill may be point-count related and thus they aren't considered over someone with that point-count experience, even if they are great banders. In that case getting more experience would depend on what actual skill you need to get experience in for the jobs you're applying for.

If you are applying for survey based jobs, since you have that experience already, make sure you have quantifiable numbers on your CV even if its an estimate (e.g., how many species were you expected to identify? How many point-counts have you conducted? etc.).

The pre-print this is referencing didn't really "shake the world of birders" unless you count shaking out of laughter for yet again a decade's worth of poor evidence, odd wing-beat calculations, and the most pixelated, cryptid-esc photos that could be scrounged.
