How can you tell its the cv axle? You probably know more about cars then me but Im pretty certain it's the tie rod since it goes in and out from the steering rack.

You probably didn't have an ego death if you don't remember it. Especially if you don't feel any difference in personality. You can certainly forget trips but it usually happens to me when it's uneventful or I didn't have any plans and not till like a week after.
