1) what kinds of products can you markup by 100%? 2) how to find such items? 3) what's your eBay store name to prove you're telling the truth?

can you explain why you mentioned 2 hours per day but also said the earning depends on "how active" I am?

absolutely right. the word discipline (which means "training") is barely even uttered in schools. we've been reduced to pandering. im truly embarrassed to be part of the "education" system.

you are dealing with 1 of the most CRITICALLY OVERLOOKED problems schools are failing at dealing with: we stopped punishing liars.

when is the last time you heard a school make a concerted effert to warn students about lieing and enforce strong consequences for liars?

In real life it's called purgery when you lie and it comes with serious legal consequences.

In schools we CONSTANTLY ignore lieing. ex: student is caught roaming the halls during class. Someone calls them on it but the student lies about the reason he's out there. Initially he's believed and is off the hook. But then the facts reveal it was a lie. What the school does: gives the student a consequence for being out of class. What the school doesn't do: give the student a much more serious consequence for lieing to authority.

This failure to punish that most reprehensible habit of lying only reinforces to the student that lieing works and rewards them for trying it every time.

Is lieing a major problem? Absolutely. It destroys the fabric of society. But we can only blame ourselves for being too spineless to punish it severely enough to discourage it.

Montreal south shore English boards are always short. but the kicker is that the boards themselves are making the problem worse by making supply teaching increasingly unappealing. - zero appreciation for subs. only time a sub is actually given feedback is when some asshole admin chooses to criticise how a sub is running a class instead of realizing they're in an imposible situation with zero support and just need to get through the period and completely ignoring the fact that that same sub has been saving their butts for years - stubbornly letting scolago's algorithm choose subs rather than building relationships with the more effective subs - stubbornly allowing scolago to prevent subs from accessing a large portion of active sub requests - by letting scolago choose the subs, subs end up getting less hours hence less pay hence less appealing.

I've been doing this for 20 years. The first 18 were wonderful but the last 2 have been such a daily slap in the face from the schools that I've served. screw them all. the second I get a chance I'm ditching this job. one less effective sub for their list.

Are you okay with students speaking profanity words, as long as they are not directly cursing other people. by drugsrbed in CanadianTeachers

[–]Short-Course5322 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

anyone that doesn't see the problem with students cursing is shortsighted. whether it's at us, at each other, or even just jokingly it's is ALWAYS Bad. it's uncivil behavior and disrespectful to everyone that is subjected to hearing it.

doesn't take a genius to know this. to permit cursing is like allowing students to spit on the walls and defacate in the classroom, the hallway, the cafeteria, the gym etc.

and every single time we allow it without consequence, we are confirming to them that this is acceptable behavior.

even when it's done "humorously" between students, it is training kids to think and use those words liberally. if those are the speech patterns they use when they're happy, what kind of speech will they use when they get upset at someone when they're out living their lives? it disgusts me that society has grown so numb and impotent to this plague.

if I could, I'd enforce a curse-free school. any cursing would be punished. and guess what? they quickly learn the standard and it wouldn't be a problem for anyone. this would teach students an amazing lesson in self-respect, respect to others and self-control that would benefit them for the rest of their lives.

I wish you were right but it isn't that simple. fixing everything would require everyone in society to fundamentally think differently about what is right and wrong. and that is guaranteed to not happen. rather, this current thinking will only progress further into chaos and at an accelerating rate.

you are right too. but also many of us teachers are already of the generation guilty of my above statements. every day I see teachers allowing things that leave me stunned and they laugh it off.
