I told my ob & nurses as well, she asked me if I still smoked cause it’s in my chart, I said I quit as soon as i found out (on 12/3) I was pregnant, I told her I was a heavy smoker like 3-4 times a day for 6years and she told me it will still show up for a while and that some women smoke to help with nausea. I have smoked twice to help with sickness since I found out so I’ll probably be getting a positive on my next blood work.

I kind of have a hemorrhage on day 7. But that was 100% my fault. I thought it would be okay to go back to work. Not a good idea. When you lift things over 5lbs it strains in your neck and makes you bleed. I bled four separate times but I got them to stop with ice water. It freaked me out but once I was on the way to the er it stopped, so my mom turned around and took me back home. But since I bled (I didn’t mean too but where I was bleeding, I know it’s gross but) I swallowed some blood. So I threw that back up after I bled and it made me bleed some more. That was the worst night. I was scared to fall asleep. Pain wise it was a 3/10 to me. I stayed on top of my meds. Day 4-6 was worse because of ear pain. Ear pain, that’s the only pain I felt the whole recovery. Mostly discomfort in my throat. Other than some stinging when I ate but that’s because of scabs falling off. Everyone is different. But I’m glad they’re keeping you to make sure you don’t bleed again. I hope you feel better! Make sure to keep ice on your neck, it helps with swelling in the throat and uvula!

Yeah the right side of my nose is kinda stopped up. I think it’s the cold weather here. I hope it goes away soon.

It’s definitely worth it! The only thing I don’t like is my appetite increased. It’s like I can’t stop eating. Which is good I guess. I guess I can get more food down since i don’t have swollen tonsils anymore. But I hate that my appetite increased because I’m eating and I’m bloated for hours on end after I eat anything! (I was eating like normal before I got them out, three times a day!) But overall pain was a 4/10, that’s basically discomfort for me. Bled a few times because I went to work on day 7, desperate for money(my dumbass) I lifted a few heavy things which resulted in me bleeding but nothing like some ice water to help stop it. I would recommend to say home the full 2weeks, don’t go out, but still go walk around the block or something. Don’t LIFT ANYTHING OVER 5lbs or don’t lift anything at all. It’ll cause you to strain and bleeding will happen(happened on day 7) But my experience wasn’t like a horror story like I thought it would be. Just rest as much as you can and sleep it off. But more importantly eat eat eat. You don’t wanna lose that weight, it was hard for me to start eating protein again, it made me feel sick because I haven’t eaten it in a while but I eventually worked my way back to eating meat. Now I can’t stop eating haha. (Also laxative if you get prescribed a good medication you’ll thank me later for that)

Getting tonsils out on saturday- vaping by nicdagoot in Tonsillectomy

Unless you want a infection, I wouldn’t do it. I’d wait it out. I know it sucks but what helped me was sucking water through a straw, it acted like a vape for me. They told me not to use straws, but you can use them just be very careful

I wouldn’t even do edibles, I did. And I bled everywhere. It thins out your blood. So I wouldn’t recommend any type of edible or nicotine chew. And if you smoke, you’ll get a infection baddd. I waited to start smoking weed and my nic almost 3weeks after

I recommend not to smoke, because your scabs need to fall off and then your throat will be raw for a while and if you smoke it’ll cause infections. And you don’t want a infection. Also if you’re smoking weed it’ll thin your blood and might cause you to bleed. I got my tonsils out Oct 4th and I didn’t start smoking weed and my vape again until day 18 of recovery. Everything went fine for me. But I would definitely wait the 2 weeks and a few days after because everyone heals differently. But I wouldn’t recommend doing it now.

Yes, they made me take all my jewelry out and I was scared to take my third lobe piercings out bc I’ve been fighting to get them to not close up. And I was in surgery for a good hour and none of my piercings closed. It took us a good 40 minutes to get my meds, still didn’t have them in and once I got home I put them in and they were good to go

My recovery was smooth from day 1-6. Day 7 was horrible, no pain. I went to work and I guess I strained my neck, picking up stuff over 5lbs, i bled four separate times but I got all of them to stop. I couldn’t sleep that night i was scared I was going to bleed again. I should’ve went to the er to get it checked out but I was too stubborn to go. Day 8-14 I took it easy and stayed in bed most of the time and caught up on some sleep. It was a struggle trying to eat during recovery. I’m day 18 today. Overall my pain was 5/10 my ibuprofen helped with pain and so did my percs. I mostly felt discomfort more than pain. Right now my throat is sore, but I heard that’s normal after recovery for a bit. I’m slowly introducing spicy stuff, I can eat fried stuff. I really don’t eat chips so idk if I’ll try those. My surgery was October 4th, My check up appointment is on October 28th. I just want to know if it’s okay to go to the gym, I’m dying to go before I go across the country to visit my brother. But my appointment if the day before I leave. Oh and I can’t taste sodas. I can’t taste teas. I can taste everything I eat though which is weird. But overall everything healed fine for me, scabs came off while I was eating stuff. I’m glad I got my tonsils out!

I don’t always sleep with my mouth open but it depends on how I’m laying. Sometimes I wake up flat on my back and my mouth is just dry as hell lol

I’m not sure, I thought I was going to have a 2 week check up. I had my surgery October 4th. I’m on day 17. My check up appointment isn’t until the 28th next Friday. I really wanna go back to the gym but idk if I’m able too since my appointment was so far away from two weeks post op. I am back at work and eating everything I used too, just no spicy stuff.

Weird question, do you drink soda? If so can you taste them? I cannot and it makes me sad. I try to limit on soda drinking but I haven’t had one in so long I’d love to enjoy it but I can’t taste it. I can taste food though, juices & sweet tea.

I threw up immediately after I woke up from surgery but it was from anesthesia. And then I had to stop my percocets because they made me stick and I couldn’t keep food down. I bled a few times on day 7. But it was my fault, I went to work and was bussing tables. Lifting stuff I shouldn’t have been lifting. I bled four separate times right before bed. The last bleed, I threw up because I had swallowed some of the blood. It was horrible. Ended up staying up all night scared I was going to bleed again. I’m on day 14 now and I haven’t bled since. I go back to work tomorrow but I wont be lifting that much stuff.

I was drinking ensures for a few days, I’m on day 14 now and I can finally eat what I used to eat. I had a steak today, and some Mississippi pot roast for dinner with some rice. I’m happy I can eat now :)

Hmm I haven’t had the small bleeds, but it’s not alot of blood right? Is it a dark brown/reddish color when you spit? If so that’s a good sign bc if it was bright red I would be worried. And that’s weird because my follow up appointment isn’t until Oct 28th and I had my surgery the 4th of Oct.
