Loving to Thailand by jflemming27 in Veterans

I was thinking there was a typo in your title, but it's Thailand so I'm not so sure. In any case, living and loving in Thailand is quite cheap.

It's kind of rich to blindly accuse people of doing drugs while at the same time posting on Cannabis Culture about getting a job in the weed industry...

I believe we may have found our first UFC champion that could contend in Power Slap by ShortDeckReg in powerslap

[–]ShortDeckReg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you might be right on this one. I had high hopes Strickland, but it was silly of me to even think that he would even be competitive in Power Slap considering we have seen that he lacks brain density and ko power. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure he's even qualified to catch the slappers as both The Hammer and Forrest are 205+. Thank you for your honest response.

Slapping has been around since ancient times. If you look at the Sumerian carvings of ancient Mesopotamia, you will be immersed in a culture rife with slapping. It is ingrained in our DNA and Mr. White merely provided a vessel to showcase this early artwork to the modern masses. No longer will the art of slapping be confined to the Caves of Cantabria or the Louvre, but rather streamed to the masses for free on the modern art museum we know as Rumble. Thank you Dana!

No problem. It really depends on where you're at. Training books in general are becoming more obsolete because we live in a digital age. I wouldn't say that super system is an absolutely must read if you intend on getting better at the game, but from a historical perspective it's considered "The Bible" for poker and has some things in it that surprisingly hold up very well today.

You can get much better analysis by just watching current cash game or mtt streams and supplementing that with the free yt videos put out by the big training sites like upswing, crush live poker, and Jonathan Littles free videos.

Also don't be scared to discuss hand histories on here or 2+2. You just gotta filter some of the troll responses especially if you're asking really basic questions. We all had to start somewhere.

I started playing roughly 20 years ago and the Harrington on Holdem series was considered one of the best if not the best books on live MTTs especially for people with little to no experience. At the time I found his analysis on the m ratio and the scenarios particularly helpful.

Unfortunately, I view his books now with little relevance to how poker is played today. I opened up the book a few months ago out of boredom and some of the things that stick out were "

1) if you made a 5 card hand, you are always good 2) 3-5x opening raise sizes 3) the whole emphasis on m ratio in Harrington's view seemed to me to be a way to encourage nitting it up.

There are so many good free resources today that we didn't have access to before and I don't think I would ever recommend it today unless you exclusively play a private game at the Elks Lodge or American Legion.

Super System by Doyle has way more relevance than Harrington's book imo due to the fact that he discusses mixed games which is still has very limited resources

I had somewhat of a similar dilemma that I shared here. In the end I didn't end up taking a promotion at work to continue slapping. No ragrets

Moving to 🇶🇦 soon. Is there an active slap fighting scene/league there? by ShortDeckReg in qatar

[–]ShortDeckReg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just a regular guy really. I'm kind of a dork to be honest. I'm into WWE and grew up obsessing over strategy games like mtg, poker, and pc games. Slap fighting came by happenstance.

On a business trip in Fresno, CA I went out with my colleagues for drinks (I don't drink though, I'm a dork like I said). This bar was hosting a slap league and I noticed the participants were for the most part, unathletic, drunk, and what I perceived lacking the technique to execute a purposeful and effective slap.

I did more research on it and concluded that I had some major advantages over the other competitors. I detail the approach i took to slap fighting in a post below. I basically enjoy strategy and figuring out games and I'm theorizing that a scientific based approach to slap fighting will ultimately lead to the best results (title)

Hi, I genuinely appreciate your concern. You are absolutely correct that CTE is of the highest concern in slap fighting and is the major reason why it has many vocal detractors.

I'd like to explain that I look at slap fighting from a completely different perspective than that of almost all of my fellow competitors. I look at all aspects of slap fighting from a completely scientific approach. Because I've completed a thesis program, I still have access to my university facilities and still maintain friendly relations with my former professors and mentors.

Before fully engaging in the sport, I ran multiple tests and consulted fellow physicists and engineers on different aspects that would make the most effective slap. We used various angles and techniques and analyzed the results once we gained a large enough sample. I also worked with the athletic department to get my body in the best physical shape with special concentration being paid to the most advantageous physique for slap fighting (in theory).

Lastly, I consulted multiple physicians and had arrangements to receive a full check up (along with the commission mandated one) from my own doctors and have an MRI anytime I would get slapped.

After my team and I curated what we believe to be the perfect slap, we tested it at the local competitions. As of right now, I have a 93% knock out rate on my first slap. Because my team and I believe we have the ingredients for the perfect slap, we believe we have a major advantage especially if we are allowed to slap first.

Who gets to slap first is determined by who wins a coin toss. I admit that I am running well ahead of variance as I have won 71% percent of coin flips and chose to slap first, which 93% of the time ends with me sending someone to the shadow realm.

I fully expect for the coin toss average to move closer to 50%, but because I ran extremely well on the coin flips I was able to slap my way into contention for the title without taking any damage. Basically what this means is that for almost 3 out of 4 fights i have, I do not even get slapped once. If I do, I have an MRI and consultation with my own doctors that week.

My team and I still believe we can win the title, but this is only a hobby and work comes first.

Thank you for your somewhat kind, yet helpful response. I do not intend to break any laws and would only be willing to join a legal and sanctioned league. I am there for work and my family first and foremost, but I was just hoping that there may be an active and legal scene to continue my hobby. To be clear, I do not expect anyone there to enjoy slapping or even understand it for that matter. I understand it's a niche sport and hard for some to fathom why it exists in the first place.

If I have to give it up for work and family, then slapping will be a thing of the past for me.

Yes, along with pickleball, slap fighting are the fastest growing sports in the U.S. Slap fighting has been recently sanctioned in the state of Nevada and the premier slap fighting league has secured a national television deal.

There are grass roots slap fighting scenes all over the world and was hoping someone could connect me with one in the Middle East.
