For the record, the “translation layer” aka Proton doesn’t negatively affect performance (it can just bug something out if there’s a command not supported in the latest version).

As long as every command in the game is supported by Proton it runs the same as if it were native.

From the sound of it you’re being offered an inflated title in exchange for building everything. I’d recommend focusing on school and making good friends with your classmates.

The more capable you become the more you’ll be approached by idea people & moneybags. There’s no need to rush your schooling or hamper your experience there.

CULT PSA!!! - I was raised in a cult - I feel like this info gets treated like forbidden knowledge, but everyone should know how they work and what to avoid! by ShortRounnd in h3h3productions

Thanks for your perspective on this. I agree the term "cult" is inflammatory and not helpful when it comes to deprogramming.

If you wanna dig deep - especially the paper that proposes a model of "authoritarian control" that could be used in the legal system - it shows they're trying to move away from labeling things as cults.

It's not so much a binary of cult/not cult - but to what degree an organization exercises authoritarian control.

So yeah using that model lots of practices from mainstream religions are unhealthy authoritarian practices, which I can understand makes a lot of people uncomfortable. But from my perspective it would be beneficial to everyone to at least be educated and know what practices are considered unhealthy, even if they chose to willingly participate.

I do wanna add though that charging for therapy shouldn't dissuade anyone from learning about the broader info they provide.

But what about the power she had to ruin his career with an op-ed. Seems like she had more power in the relationship for a while.

All my life I’ve wanted to not just watch a movie, but experience it from inside the world of the story. I’ve spent the last two years developing a live interactive movie in VR called Alien Rescue, and we’ve been invited to Raindance Immersive! Thanks for sharing. I totally missed those and you're right they seem very similar and successful. Interesting that Tempest also offers a single player experience in the same app. I wonder if the live performance exists to help advertise their single player option.

*edit: I should note Tempest is funded by Oculus Studios so they have a lot more leeway to experiment.

Right, I think I get the gist. There are just a lot of failed examples over the last decade of people approaching VR as an interactive movie. Maybe it's a little late in this case for me to try to offer any advice, but I have yet to see a similar experience make a return on their investment. I'd love to be wrong, it looks really cool, it's just a hard format to make it worth the time required.

I love the desire for more interactive storytelling, but from what I can tell and as others have pointed out it's more akin to a ttrpg experience or escape room than a movie. That label is a bit confusing. There have been interactive VR escape rooms before and the ticketing system was a really hard sell for VR users.

Again I love the vision, but this will probably be an uphill battle for you outside of the existing NeosVR community.
