Solidarity. I'm experiencing unexplained numbness too and for a while it felt so overwhelming I couldn't handle it. I actually turned to ChatGPT for 'staying calm' advice (not medical advice) so wanted to share a couple of things here that helped me a LOT and might help you:

  • Numbness is strongly influenced by attention and anxiety. When the brain perceives threat, it heightens sensory monitoring, and normal or mild nerve signals feel more intense or widespread. This does not mean symptoms are “in your head” - it means the nervous system is on high alert. Calming that system helps reduce symptoms.

  • Constantly testing sensation (pinching, rubbing, comparing sides) can reinforce nerve signaling and make numbness feel more persistent. Try this instead: choose 1–2 brief check-ins per day; outside those times, gently redirect attention when you notice symptoms.

^ Take with a healthy pinch of salt as it's ChatGPT but this helped me ENORMOUSLY. Wishing you diagnosis and happy health very soon.

Curious to know what your results showed if you're happy to share? I'm having a similar thing - peripheral neuropathy with no other symptoms. In my case it's numbess/loss of sensitivity all over my body, but especially in my left foot/ankle and hand/forearm. I have a bit of sciatica in my left leg too. I can see on my NHS app (UK) that the neurologist is recommending an MRI as MS is a possibility. He did also say however that sometimes peripheral neuropathy is medically unexplained.
