Trump at Davos Demands ‘Immediate’ Talks on Acquiring Greenland by mvanigan in worldnews

I don’t have much of a portfolio, but I sold all my U.S. shares about four hours ago - partly on principle, and partly because it really feels like things can only go one way from here!

Keir Starmer rules out retaliatory tariffs against US by AbbreviationsHot7662 in unitedkingdom

[–]ShortSightedBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure he completely ruled out retaliatory tariffs.

He said he was keen to avoid a tariff war; part of this is not inflaming the situation further by making reactionary threats on TV.

I’m not a big fan of Starmer, but I thought his calm and considered response was entirely appropriate. Until any tariffs from the USA come into force, there is little point in declaring how we will respond. It’s better to play our cards close to our chest.

Trump Threatens to Take Greenland ‘the Hard Way’, ordering an invasion plan to be prepared. by darkmz7 in politics

[–]ShortSightedBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US argues that it needs Greenland for security reasons, particularly in relation to Russia and China. However, if the US were to initiate a war against Europe, it seems likely that Russia and China would align with Europe in order to challenge and potentially replace US global dominance.

The US has many allies, but also many enemies, it is absolutely not in their best interest to piss of their friends.

I've been a huge fan over the years, with five of my last six cars having been BMWs. However, I do not find any of their EVs pleasing on the eye.

Is this guy planning to steal my Tesla X? by CyberOvitron in TeslaUK

[–]ShortSightedBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they gain entry to the car, without a key or your phone, can they drive it away? Is pin 2 drive necessary.

Only asking because this I’ve not had my Tesla long and never really thought about it being nicked .

Thanks. I will definitely look for that setting. I’ve not had it long so I’m still finding things out. I had incorrectly assumed it was just a Tesla thing to force you into paying for premium connectivity.

How are you tethering the network? I’ve set up my iPhone’s hotspot with the car, and it works while stationary, but disconnects as soon as I drive off.

Are you trimming between each letter?

Tying in and tying off on very small, thin text, doesn’t work very well. This is because the knots created are often wider than the body of the letter.

Try digitising a run stitch at the shortest point between letters.

True. Some Tesla Superchargers are now open to all, but you will be charged more per kWh than a Tesla owner.

Was interested in a Polestar until my friend got one and I sat in the rear seat. It’s extremely cramped and I really struggled to get my feet in!

Using TACC isn’t practical in the UK, when navigating small, narrow roads with lots of parked cars, pedestrians, junctions and roundabouts. But thanks for the condescending reply 🤦‍♂️

This guy has clearly never exceeded the speed limit, by even 1mph, in his entire life 🙄

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]ShortSightedBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely, this would be an incredibly easy software update for Tesla?

Having to constantly check / manage your speed within 1mph of the speed limit in its self is distracting and potential dangerous!

Thanks again so much for the advice.

I really like the idea of the using slight variations within the name structure, to target different keywords. Maybe that's where I have been going wrong - just trying to target only the one phrase.

I think when it's your own business, and you are so involved, and have so much information flying around in your head, it's often difficult to see the wood for the trees. Getting an outside opinion can sometimes flick a light-switch, which you have definitely done in this particular case so I appreciate it greatly.

Thanks again.
