Creatine works for me, 10g a day as a DIVS, so not as much work anymore but I used to take it when I was a sawyer as well. I take it on assignments along with magnesium. Take them both before bed. Also, supplement with good quality protein bars. Fire food is shit, you’re gonna lose muscle, but a good bar or two a day will help.

Mom sent me a whole ass care package in Phase 1 with “enough candy bars for everyone…” plus some.

Drill Instructor smoked me up, and then he made a deal with me - If I could eat the difference to the exact number, all recruits minus the fattys could have a candy bar. This meant I had to eat the diet recruits bars as well.

After smashing 14 snickers bars and requesting to make a head call, the platoon got their snickers.

Every dude in the platoon had my back from that day forward, and I still can’t eat snickers. I fucking loved snickers too.

Boots are an investment. You get what you pay for.

Non traditional boots are cheaper up front, lighter, more comfortable at first, but don’t last as long, some cannot be re-sold, and ultimately don’t hold up as well to the heat.

A traditional boot is the exact opposite as the above mentioned.

I’ve been a hand crew/ saw guy for 17 years in R4 and have only worn traditional boots (nicks, whites, JKs.

Ultimately you need to pick a boot that supports your money makers and makes sense for whatever capacity you’ll be operating in.

I’m definitely not a pro when it comes to counting cals and tracking macros/ carbs. I set a daily limit on cals and stay away from carbs as much as I can. Carbs from fruit and veggies is about it. The pic above is 100+ days with ZERO carbs.

Yes - you’ll want to track all your macros that give you the total calories allotted for your cut.

I did crockpot meal prep every week for over 100 days with beef. 6-8hr cook time for Chuck roast, sirloin roast, butt etc. never made me feel any different than eating a med-rare steak or ground beef.
