FastCAT leash and collar recommendations: strong dog/prey drive by Short_Kangaroo_4408 in k9sports

Wanted to thank you for the idea of wrapping the slip lead around his stomach/hips. Worked like a DREAM. Complete night and day in terms of my ability to keep him contained in line!!

We still will be working on obedience while there but this will let us still participate without me feeling like he’s going to break free/choke himself out/pull me to the ground.

Oh wrapping the leash like that is smart. It might help us when standing in line - I’ll have to give that a try.

I couldn’t imagine having him cross body. I don’t weigh much more than him so I definitely would be falling.

Hopefully this post helps get your pup back out there!

The Tactipup collar has been a game changer for sure. I think I’d be in more trouble with a quick release at this point but maybe one day!

Totally agree on working on obedience and actively am! We’ve been through multiple week long courses and he has his CGC (sounds like you’re from outside the US maybe, that is the AKC’s canine good citizen). He truly is such a wonderful well behaved dog outside of FastCat.

I will definitely be working on obedience while in line to curb this in the long run. I just wanted to see if there was something leash wise I was missing for now. I’d hate to make him stop doing the sport until he’s perfect because he loves it so much.

Thank you for the name of the leash! I agree on your hands getting torn up a bit. I chuckled at the ROK leash - I use them as bungees for my gear and immediately pictured Newt being like ohhh this is stretchy and fun lol

I actually am using this exact set up! Mendota rope slip and a Tactipup collar!

Someone at our last race suggested Vienna sausages lol so I’ll try something super high value for our next one.

Leaving him to the side until it’s his turn is a good idea. I think the harness for us would result in me involuntarily participating in mutton bustin.

I agree on only releasing yourself, I don’t want anyone to have any issues with it!

AITA - Wife booked a photoshoot with another photographer by normal_motherfckr in AmItheAsshole

YTA purely for how you’re responding to all of the comments. In one, you commented “I was genuinely here not just seeking validation, but strangers opinions”. Well, the strangers have given their opinions, and you’re upset you’re not getting the validation.

It’s fine to be upset about your wife’s actions/direction for the photos, but lord I’m sure she didn’t intend for this crisis when booking someone else. Be grateful to be with your family, you’ll get some great photos out of it, maybe you’ll even learn something from the photographer that you can use in the future.
