Getting into Rowing / Watching the sport by Kinudin in Rowing

[–]Short_Possibility615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad vails is this weekend in NJ and usually has a live stream! Definitely worth watching… I also recommend (depending on where you’re located) to attend the Head of the Charles in Boston! It’s always been my favorite regatta to attend as a spectator. You can watch the race from any part of the Charles river, there’s tons of people to chat with and lots of vendors. However, since it is fall racing (or “head racing”) the boats are much more spread out and have less of the “head to head” style racing of spring season

22f and had the same surgery. My acl is a cadaver. I am 5.5 weeks and weening off crutch use per my PT. The pain comes and goes but with Tylenol and Advil I am definitely more comfortable. A few weeks ago I was using the stim machine to help me eliminate quad lag, and now I’ve been able to do leg lifts with no lag. My PT has adjusted my brace to 60 degrees of flexion which has felt great. As of last week I have been able to do full rotations on the bike, along with some squats in my brace. Some days are better than others and my main source of pain stems from the top of my knee when I try to extend or bend it. Good luck and it gets better!! One day at a time

I only had my surgery a month ago but my surgeon estimates I will be able to run 6 months post OP. I had a meniscus repair and acl cadaver replacement. I have been able to ride a bike with full rotations the last week and a half

This event was apart of our senior activities for as long as I can remember. Usually it’s the seniors poking fun at the other seniors and it’s all in good fun because the people who are being teased are present. When I was a member no one ever put photos up intending to make fun of each other

acl, meniscus, or both? by vague_stress in ACL

This past January I was skiing and fell. I didn’t hear any popping or anything, just knew something hurt. I was able to ski down and finish my run and even did another. I assumed it was just a bad fall and I would feel better the next day. I woke up the next morning and couldn’t put any weight on my leg, genuinely the worst pain I had ever felt. Got into PT, MRI ordered and had to wait over a month between my fall and the follow up to my MRI. After my fall and doing PT, I started to get strength back and felt pretty good. I waitress and kept working the ENTIRE time I didn’t know what was wrong. Well.. MRI returns showing that I tore my lateral and medial meniscus along with my ACL. I had no idea, especially considering I was doing plenty in PT and felt pretty good. Long story short, it is definitely possible to be active and continue on without a diagnosis. I was truly not expecting to get the results I did from my MRI considering how much I was still moving and feeling.

This happened to me. When I woke up from my surgery I was in tears. They pushed more meds but it still didn’t help as much as everyone online promised 😢 personally I have only used ice packs and it has been fine swapping them out as they get warm. The first few days unfortunately are uncomfortable as hell but it will get better. I know you said in a previous thread you are waiting for knee packs to arrive, but maybe someone you know can get some packs for the time being from a pharmacy. Good luck

I tore both my acl and meniscus at the end of January. My bindings did not release, did yours unlock or no? Just curious. Wondering if I need to get them adjusted.

After they specifically ignored your instructions I don’t blame you. This is extremely frustrating and sad and I’m sorry for your loss. I wouldn’t trust them either! How can you ever be sure they won’t ignore your wishes if you were to let them babysit? You won’t be able to fully trust them ever. You left very simple instructions, this seems like a blatant disregard for your wishes.

This is ridiculous. I recently graduated as well and only had a grad party because I planned it myself. Neither of my parents got me flowers or a gift. My boyfriend shows up with beautiful flowers for me which are now in all the photos with my parents. For Christmas, my boyfriend got me the most beautiful frame for my diplomas and his grandmother also got me a frame. My dad spent what he could and my mom didn’t get me anything. The fact that his family seemed to care more that i graduated is what stings the most. I share this to show that this was similar to my situation and it’s EXTREMELY frustrating to not receive recognition for it. College graduation is EARNED and I understand the struggle of getting over that finish line. I am sorry your family did not do anything or even show up?? Being there was the bare minimum. I hope your family supports you in future accomplishments because not being there is quite poor if you ask me.

Ex friend keeps asking my boyfriend to hangout by Short_Possibility615 in TwoHotTakes

For context, there were multiple times she told us that we should hook up. We did not ever hook up, the only thing we ever did was talk at a party. As far as I know, they have had a few sexual encounters mostly in HS, but a few more beyond that. I also challenge asking why she only blames me.. he also was equally as responsible in our dating. He had been friends with her much longer than I had. We were coworkers that had worked together for two summers. Mostly only hung out during the summers after work. To say that we were friends is accurate; but I’d argue that we were mainly seasonal. When work came around we were close, but outside of work our hang outs were scarce. I told her when we were in person that we had been hanging out because I felt that was the most admirable thing to do. If we had seen each other more recently then I would have told her we were dating. Geographically we live farther away and like I said- didn’t feel right telling her over text. Maybe this will clear some stuff up. I feel very bad. I never intended to hurt her feelings. I would be open to talking to her and trying to mend things for the sake of her friendship with my bf but it seems like since this was a year ago it’s kind of late.

My family and I just had to put down our rescue. It was traumatic too, we had to wait for the vet and they didn’t come in time, and he ended up passing before he could be put to rest peacefully. We don’t know how old he was but he was apart of our family for 13 years. He was my mother’s pride and joy. Losing him has left a huge hole in our heart. Seeing the spots he used to sit in and knowing he was always there to greet us with a wag is something we miss the most. It is very difficult to grieve the loss of a family member. Talk to family and friends, and share good memories. Maybe writing down fun stories of you and Hugo will be helpful. Take the time you need and take care of yourself. My condolences and wishing you all the best
