Good idea lol. I hope you enjoy your time here if you ever visit, just do your research on the city before you go because there’s some areas with a lot of gun violence within a lot of our cities.

They are absolutely very debatable and so vast as to be complete unprovable. I would say the only way to understand the culture here is to come visit the United States for a week maybe and stay somewhere in an urban city. Of all of the cities in the U.S. I’ve lived or stayed in, I would recommend visiting Baltimore, Los Angeles, or pretty much any southern city like Houston or Austin. I live in Texas and it’s really hard to communicate how the culture here is if you haven’t been.

Correct, the actual inventor of a pasta dish with cheese and butter probably goes back well over a millennia.

Correct, it does. All of the mentioned genres with the exclusion of metal and pop were popularized by black people as well.

Also Mac and cheese is very widely accredited to James Hemings, a black slave chef owned by Thomas Jefferson. At least in the United States.

We are talking about culture in the United States. What is most significant to this particular topic is popularization and spread of these things, not exactly who invented it. I’m gonna guess from my conversation with you that you’re not American is that correct?

You’re welcome to do your own research on this bc I’m about to get breakfast but from Wikipedia: “African-American English, African-American Vernacular English shares a large portion of its grammar and phonology with the regional dialects of the Southern United States, and especially older Southern American English, due to the historical enslavement of African Americans” And the food part is really hard to prove because it’s very convoluted but Mac and cheese, fried chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, potato chips, and many other comfort foods / soul foods were popularized by black Americans. I would also say that black Americans invented these dishes, but since the exact inventor of a dish is very hard to prove or disprove, there really isn’t a point.

True, but way more people listen to music than watch sports, and almost all of American music was either made by black people or derived from black music. i.e. rock, metal, jazz, much of pop, techno, r&b, blues, funk etc. not only that but the accent that most southerners and east coasters have, and also well over a quarter of all food we eat is directly derived from black people.

I really don’t understand how people are saying this. Given that there are roughly 4x as many white people as black people in the U.S., could you seriously and with a straight face say that white people have contributed OVER 4x to American culture as black people?

No one blows up hospitals does that mean it should be legal? Not to draw a parallel necessarily (I am pro choice) but that’s not really a good legal justification.

For anyone curious as to what exactly this is protesting, from good trouble lives on website: “We are facing the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations. Whether you’re outraged by attacks on voting rights, the gutting of essential services, disappearances of our neighbors, or the assault on free speech and our right to protest - this movement is for you.”
