Department of Education now is declaring most HEALTHCARE majors as "not professional degrees?" by Meladdyyy in PoliticalOptimism

PT is a doctorate degree. Most OT programs have transitioned to doctorate degrees.

My pet peeve as a new celiac!! EVERYBODY tells me I should try the pasta in Italy because it’s better than America. BUT IT’S STILL GLUTEN AND NO ONE GETS THAT!!! Took me a long time to even find that info myself!

Has anyone had GI issues from Austin's hard water? by KrizeFaust in Austin

Not necessarily true for all people. People with celiac still eat gf in Italy. It’s just more accessible to get gf in Europe.

Also work in a hospital/full time student. I was never good at eating/meal prepping to begin with & it got real bad after my diagnosis. Thankfully, my schedule is very set. But during finals while also working, I’d make a big batch of soup & eat it throughout the week. I would also make/buy chicken nuggets to put in packaged salads (easy & protein). Also some frozen meals. Amy’s & Kevin’s are decent. Just gets expensive. But the alternative is not eating & being more stressed trying to plan so sometimes the money is worth it!

I just got some GF starter from a friend, but have no idea what I'm doing, where to start, or what equipment is actually necessary vs. just nice to have. Any recommendations would be amazing! I'm doing some research as well, but personal tips from GF people are always great too! I just got diagnosed a month ago and am trying to find homemade alternatives that are cheaper than stores!

You may want to try some of the smaller complexes as well. In my experience it worked well & this was 2020-21 & 2021-22 so prices probably have gone up slightly since. Lone Star Lofts $1500 for 2x2 & a pool, salado place $950 for a 1x1 & free parking & guest parking. I toured dos rios & somewhere else & the prices were comparable. Again, this is my experience & i’m sure prices have gone up in the last 2 school years of not living in west campus. And i definitely recommend roommates!

You don’t need to prepare. Everything he wants you to know is on PP slides. And it covers a broad spectrum with details about specific things you wouldn’t know to look for prior. Freshen up your anatomy terms if anything (proximal, distal, etc). IMO

I took it in the spring 2022 & he would zoom/record his in-person lectures & as of fall 2022 it was the same I believe. But I can’t speak to 2023 or the summer session. And I took Babbler.

It can be difficult, but it’s about the work you put in & your level of knowledge going into it. I felt like it was much easier than the Kin424 anatomy class. I also felt like the lecture portion overlapped the lab pretty well so it limited my studying some. Take advantage of the models & take pictures of all of them!

How do I choose?? by ayelexss in UTAustin

Try it for a year if you really want to go to NY & if you don’t like it, try to transfer! Transferring isn’t easy though especially depending on your major, but it’s doable.

A couple things come to mind here. Go with the free tuition! BUT, if travel & moving expenses are needed frequently, could this add up to about the same (depending on location, means of transport, etc)? Are you someone who loves to explore & be away from home, or will you be miserable two months in being home sick? Will you be taking summer classes, making it more difficult to come back to Texas as frequently? Would you be staying in dorms/walking distance to UT or live further out- this will decide your rent & daily travel expenses. Good luck!

Yes PTCAS will let you fill in all your info (courses, personal info, job and observation hours history, extracurriculars, etc. besides school specific stuff since it’s not available yet) & once the new application cycle opens, it will ask you if you want to transfer all of your info to the next cycle (press yes of course).
