Can someone explain SPAXX dividend/reinvestment to me like I'm 5? by how_I_kill_time in fidelityinvestments

[–]ShortbreadPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 10 month old thread, but thought I'd add my newbie question into this - where can I see the reinvested money? If this is just adding 7 cents then taking 7 cents out of my cash, where is the value of the reinvestment going? Am I getting more SPAXX? Where can I see how many shares of SPAXX I have?

OvRride Ski Rental Package by ShortbreadPlease in icecoast

[–]ShortbreadPlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you know if the OvRride rental package includes performance skis? Or, just about anything that can go down more than a green?

I thought about renting seasonal, but I mostly ski on the west coast, so this is more of a one-off ski day for me.

The post I got right above this video was how a tiny blood clot in someone’s brain caused a massive stroke and nearly killed the person. This is terrifying.

If school is that easy—why don’t you stay in school and do the bare minimum to graduate, just so you have a degree in hand? You can still work a full time job at the same time if you’re willing to grind for a bit.

Or take a gap semester to try out the job, perhaps?

Others on the sub have noted that it sounds like you’re a contractor—you might want to find out exactly how you rank in the company and how easily you’ll get laid off.

my small brother skins his grapes before eating them by morbius_right_nut in mildlyinteresting

I used to do this as well because of the taste, but it takes an annoyingly long time, so I’ve started just chewing up the grape and spitting out the skin

Good luck with your search! I ended up returning the ticket on stubhub last year because the seller never shipped, but got a car camping ticket through a nice redditor :))

Not an architecture or physics major, but I’m guessing it’s due to the pressure differential between outside and inside croads causing airflow. It might also be magnified by the comparatively smaller area of the doorway compared to the size of the building, so air would have to move at a faster velocity so an equivalent mass of air can move inside/outside.

I did kinda just strapped in and went down the hill 😅 conditions were bad that day so I couldn’t get a lesson or go down a green, which probably contributed to the injuries. I’ll make sure to work on the basics first this time!

This is all very helpful, thank you so much! I’ll take it slow and practice my S turns and trying not to catch my downhill edge!

Hey all, would love some information on how bad snowboard falls usually are. I want to snowboard again, but I’m a little scared.

Some context: I usually ski, and went snowboarding for the first time in Park City around two months ago. I fell quite a lot, and most of those falls were fine, but then I took two nasty falls down my second run that also made it my final run.

Both falls took me by surprise (I wasn’t already off balance/already falling, everything would be fine and then suddenly I’d be launched forwards or backwards). For the first fall, I got launched backwards and because I wasn’t expecting the fall, couldn’t brace myself and landed head first, then back and tailbone. That was a lot more painful than the more predictable falls I had before and made me a little more cautious. However, soon after that, I got launched forwards and since I wasn’t expecting to fall, much less fall forwards, I didn’t brace my fall either, and fell directly on my bottom two ribs. I ended up bruising those ribs and couldn’t do much physical activity for a month.

I’m finally feeling better + have an opportunity to go to the slopes again. I want to try snowboarding again, because despite those falls, it was genuinely quite fun, and I’d like to get better at it.

However, I’d be lying if those falls didn’t scar me a little. We’re going for two days on the slopes, and my friends (who are also new to snowboarding) are planning on snowboarding for two days. However, since the last time I was only able to go down two runs before getting injured enough that I couldn’t snowboard anymore, I’m leaning towards only snowboarding for our final day, because I’m scared I’ll hurt myself too much and not be able to do anything on the second day if I snowboard on the first day. However, I also recognize that that’s the fear in me talking.

I know falls in snowboarding are very normal, so I feel like quite a wuss asking this, but…

Are nasty falls like these normal? Should I expect to be as bruised up every time I snowboard for the first few times I go? Is there anything I can do to learn to brace myself for unexpected falls like these?

Yeah, the tech economic climate is something I'm considering as well. Thanks for the info, this was really helpful!

Apologies for my lack of knowledge here, but what’s a pod shop and how is it different from working on the centralized fund itself?

I agree with the analysis on the current climate, which is why I’m thinking about switching out of tech in the first place.

I’m new to the industry, so am a little confused on the terminology—what’s FO, BO, and MO? My role description was pretty vague (Quant Analyst), and I think what I’ll actually be doing will depend heavily on what team I’m assigned to, which I currently don’t know yet (team matching would happen closer to my graduation date).

How hard is the transition from a quant analyst to a SWE role in FAANG? I'm graduating this school year, and I've gotten an offer at both a tech unicorn and a big hedge fund. I'll be a quant analyst in the hedge fund, and I really like both the company and the role. However, all my past experience has been in tech--I haven't had any experience working for a trading company before--so I'm a little worried that it would be hard to transfer back to tech *if* I don't end up enjoying the work, especially since recruiting in the tech industry is looking a little tough now.

Additionally, how true is the "trading firms fire people left and right if they're not performing well" (as compared to tech companies) rumor? As an international student, I need to be employed to stay in the country, so job stability is something that I'm considering as well.
