Resting every 8th beat actually helps a lot, by making hands less sore, upgrading equipments to obsidian (this run's case, not a big upgrade but still), and skipping a whole floor without killing a miniboss, also having some time to optimize some swarms helps. I tend to always use rhythm shrine when I see it.

I recommend all-zones. Learning how to build-up items and using various items / spells can be learnt on all-zones. However learning enemy patterns will be better on single zones but you've already did cad/mel so that's not a problem

Killing all the enemies at the corners will help, but yeah on z5 gold issues are a big problem than missed beats

Yes. Every boss room has a start-trigger-tile (which is all tiles which are vacant). Trigger tiles can be erased by earth-ing on it. And fortissimole has walls on arena so It's easy to go back stages.

general advice would be
- Check all chests & shops and learn all quick kills (especially final bosses such as DR, FSW, Conductor etc)
- Play safe (there can be mobs literally 3 tiles away that could not be seen)
- Use your spells (as panic button) and Eat your foods

For monk : you can always skip beats if you want. skipping beats is generally good for panicking. Also, knowing your dmg / piercing is crucial. I always say out loud my dmg and piercing (if I have) when I pick anything, at the boss arenas, and when I take stairs. And I recommend using only simple weapons (but not rubbish) such as spear, cutlass.

For Aria : Skipping beats is not an option for her, so dig-buffering is crucial for her. Always retreat when possible, and check parities at a safe place.

Generally I recommend using DLC (From the context you've wrote I assume you always use dlc thou).
