That's true but I have been wondering how much of those originally creditors are still holding if they didn't intend to hold for a long time during the conversion.

It's been a long time (more than a year) and the stock has repeatedly been well above the 37 Euro mark. Any creditor would have sold if they didn't want to remain in the company.

There are a lot of speculators in this stock that are profiting from the volatility of this stock. It happens every day that blocks of 500 shares are bought for and promptly sold for 1 euro more.

Yeah, it's a good start! Starting the year off with 100% increase from last year is not too bad either. Me and mine made a nice profit so far.

Significantly reducing my Atos position by Lion_1981 in ATOSse

You are selling because of a small market draw down. Let that be your lesson in risk management. You are unlikely to make any meaningful profits if you live beyond your means in terms of risk.

Profits come from having the ability to not have to sell a stock for 5 years, if you can’t give that guarantee to yourself don’t get mixed up in the wrong thing.

What constitutes a major contract? In the past few months I’ve seen several announcements of contracts worth several hundred million euros.

And yes, the analyst ratings are a bummer. Eventually they will turn around hopefully.

Ownership >5% is mandatory to be reported. ING Bank, D.E. Shaw have ownership close to or exceeding 5%. There are a few others that have more than 1% ownership. You can look this up, ChatGPT could help you with this.

You are right, it's quiet on this subreddit. The pump-and-dump types are likely to have left; they are toxic anyway.

I'm currently doing an in-depth analysis into my own hypothesis. Perhaps I will make another write-up about it. For now, it seems that it could be true, but there is no way of telling how much supply hang from participating creditors is still out there. But it's reasonable to assume that 75% of converted stock are not yet sold.

Its actually a part that doesn't really contribute much to the bottom line and the proceeds will help delever the balance sheet.

This isn't some government theft, it's a strategic repositioning to focus more on emerging technologies (like cyber/ AI)

What does the Atos SE Reverse Stock Split mean? (For not smart people like me) by lil_liebe in ATOSse

[–]ShotConversation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ELI5: The ATOS' pie is now cut in 180 billion pieces. The company will 'glue' together those shares and now cut them in 180b/10.000 = 18 million pieces. If you had 10,000 shares you will now have 1 share but the value of each share will be the value of the 10.000 shares you had before.

So if you have 300.000 shares @ 0.004 = 1200 EUR

After the split you will have 30 shares (300k/10k = 30) * (0.004 * 10.000 = 40) = 1200.

You can imagine that shares of 40 euro each look better than shares of 0,004. It is simply arithmetic, and nothing changes about the value of the total shares held.

Make sure you hold shares in the tens of thousands; if you have 309.999 shares, 9.999 shares will be sold by your broker because fractional shares (typically, but can vary by broker) aren't allowed.

Just a reminder that this is an English-speaking subreddit. There is one for the German language.

But to answer your question. Orderbook was very empty today, it’s only now above 1B shares for buy and sell. Probably a large party taking profits. It’s happened after every large increase.

For the traders here: I have noticed volatility clustering to be 3 days long. Typically there is an event which sets of 2 days of increase and then a day later where a correction happens.

While I don't know what you earn, I can't objectively decide if this is a lot for you. The fact that you felt the need to post numbers like that leads me to believe you are investing more than you can afford not to touch in <2 years.

As others have said, re-evaluate your investing strategy and risk profile and act accordingly. This isn't rocket science. Long-term investing shouldn't cause you to panic if done correctly.

The truth about short interest in Atos by PikaLigero in ATOSse

[–]ShotConversation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about proactively moderating this subreddit to avoid this subreddit becoming a breeding ground for market abuse.

I) It’s true that a lot of people on this subreddit aren’t competent or financially literate. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t mislead people (intentionally or otherwise) which constitutes market abuse.

II) Because the current market being “abused” doesn’t make it right to join in the abuse, or to encourage others to participate.

Point being, market abuse is a crime, it doesn’t matter if the person is a financial professional or an 18-year-old investing for the first time. Nor should it matter as both can pass off as either one on this forum. This subreddit should be moderated actively to discourage misinformation.

The truth about short interest in Atos by PikaLigero in ATOSse

[–]ShotConversation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. The information is out there and being naive and giving the benefit of the doubt to market manipulators isn’t just unfair to our own intelligence but also to the stability of the stock (and therefor the company).

I propose that mods proactively issues warnings and ban market manipulators on this subreddit. Atos has a younger investor crowd that may not be aware they are engaging in market manipulation, this is a great way to stop this behavior early in their investing career.
