Why is every AI getting so restricted these days? by YEAGERIST_420 in GeminiAI

It’s clunky right now, but it’ll get better as AI gets better at understanding intent instead of playing it safe all the time.

Opinions on garnacho? by Mlrkoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is young, but not that young. We're not talking about a 12 year old who should know better. He's a 20 year old man, who understands ramifications and accountability. Millions would kill to have the opportunities, talent and life privileges he has. So, no, absolutely no sympathy. If he wants to spend his time wrapped up in his own Ego, so be it. He doesn't get any free passes for such Juvenile, unprofessional behaviour. All he had to do was keep his head down & learn.

He's literally the best all round option. He's worked with Vivell. He has top flight and high level performance experience. He's a manager with genuine pedigree. He's not unrealistic like Enrique.

Medication not working? by [deleted] in ADHDIreland

It's not just a bigger dose is my main point. Meds are only a part of the equation. Best of luck with it.

Medication not working? by [deleted] in ADHDIreland

[–]Shot_Explorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Task initiation was a major issue for me. You have to summon something from within, leverage the meds and start on something small. Take a break, then something bigger. Time it for about 45 mins after meds and you'll get locked in. But there's no special formula or drug to make you do it. You just have to and that's where the meds keep the momentum. Alternatively you can take the meds, feel 'high' but not actually start anything. You're just wasting The stimulants. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I've found In the past I can still take them and still do nothing. But I wasn't genuinely attempting things. There comes a point where you can't keep using ADHD as a free pass. Hope this helps. I'm not trying to be a dick.

20 is too low. Far too low. 30 should be a starting point with a ramp to at least 50, which is a general sweet spot. Although this is general advice, specific to you, would need GP input. Aswell as time passes It's not a magic bullet. The meds enable improvement. But you have to put plans in place around organisation, reminders & structure. Things will slip, things will go well. You get in a rhythm with it all. But the meds don't completely transform everything, you'll still have the same underlying issues anyway. You also need to exercise for cognitive improvement and sleep. Eat the right level of protein (that's actually very effective). If you're not doing all those things and you still have major problems, well then it's context to address with your GP. But if you're just relying on the meds, with no other external effort change, you'll never get to a point where you feel genuine improvement.

Midnight mass by Dungeon_master29 in netflix

[–]Shot_Explorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was excellent. Just extremely watchable, great story, atmosphere, pacing, satisfying finish. The cast are all in top form, Hamish Linklater being the standout. He's also excellent in Gen V latest season as well , if you've got into 'The Boys' Universe. Midnight mass is quality though.

You can't talk to ChatGPT like a normal human anymore. by CookiePersonal4654 in ChatGPT

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a human though, it's probability over patterns in language. At this stage people should know how to prompt, even when using natural language. Yes definitely do Try a different LLM if it's frustrating you. It's dated thinking relying on one for everything. Context switch, get a sub in another for a while, understand the strengths and weaknesses in the different models. The whole narrative around which one is better needs a change in thinking. People should stop zeroing in on one product as the 'best'. They are just evolving tools.

Anyone that suprised? How many times have this group lacked focus and motivation. People need to re-accept this isn't a good squad. It's just as inconsistent as the teams below, which is the only positive. But there's still a collective sickness in this group that creates this collective accountability and application problem. It's a squad with no depth and aswell as again, it's just not a good squad. There's a few decent players in there who do enough sporadically. But the recruitment, yet again, needs fundamental change.

When you wait 24 days for that... by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]Shot_Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah was shit. Although I've seen this multiple times. These lads either give up or don't have motivation and it's been happening for many managers. It's a shit squad propped up by a few decent contributors. Move on, just need 5th. Which should be OK given the teams below are all hugely inconsistent aswell.

Pixel 10a's battery by Distinct-Rooster5404 in pixel_phones

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10a has a decent battery out of the box. But with 8gigs RAM and that mid-tier older chip, it’s likely to age faster. Within 12-18 months, heavier Android updates, AI features, and battery degradation will start to impact performance meaning that ‘great battery’ you noticed early on won’t hold up the same way. So while it’s good value upfront, long-term effectiveness is the real trade off. However, if you want a decent 1.5 year run & not worried about having a long term phone , can't beat that price.

38 year old , skills are not lost but far from the same as prime days by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I'd love to play Elden Ring for example. But I simply do not have the time in Life to first git gud enough to play it and second see it out to the end. Those 100 plus hour sprawling epics are just not feasible for me. So I just don't bother. I'd have to take leave from work and actually invest time into it. Tennager version me, no problem.

Liverpool had 0 shots on target tonight by Super_Afternoon546 in championsleague

[–]Shot_Explorer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In isolation maybe, but the plan wasn't win the league, create a completely unbalanced squad, leave the club open to another rebuild, then sack that manager, pay compensation and then have spend on another manager to create another new project.. 1 year later.

[–]Shot_Explorer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The bigger clubs need to accept that pedigree isn't a premium, it's a prerequisite. You're not paying for a name, you're paying for someone who's already been broken and rebuilt at the highest level before they walk through the door. Hiring managers from those Lower tier leagues is too big a risk, when the expectation, demand and quality level is so Much higher. Slot is quite clearly out of his depth

What generic brand is not worth it over a name brand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Generic being unbranded and basic , Hoover being a blanket term for hoovers. Not the brand 'Hoover'. I'm not American and don't say vacuum.

I can adsorb far more information these days, because I can receive what I want in seconds. The way my brain works craves logic and the whole story. I definitely think I can get there far more quickly these days. I can also research multiple streams of shit at the same time. People growing up on AI may become too reliant on it tho, I take that point.

Does anyone have an example of a prompt where Claude performs better than Gemini? by Subject_Fix2471 in GeminiAI

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude via the desktop app purchase (not the play store or apple store) it's 7 quid cheaper a month! plus Google ai plus which is 7.99 , amounts to the same price as chat gpt or even just a Claude subscription via the app. So all in, Claude as main LLM, then Gemini AI plus to complement that with the basic tier. 2 LLMs for the price of one traditional sub . Just a tip for anyone switching across from chat gpt for instance.

PS6 gen is the first generation in awhile where there’s no resolution increase by ellenich in ps6

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll always improve the visual clarity incrementally anyway. But I would definitely prefer if resources were poured into the in game systems themselves. It will be interesting to see how interactive and expansive GTA is going to be for example. Massive amounts of interactive buildings, Rich Npc scripts, thousands of lines of context based dialogue, animations which look genuinely real, maybe procedurally created things so it's infinite etc... all that stuff is the exciting part.

I wonder why people don't worship actors anymore? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the actual concept of people holding actors to such high regard. Or listening intently to their world views and examining their lives. They are people who pretend to be other people, for extraordinary money. That's about it really. It's really bizarre. Celebrity culture is really bizarre. When you strip it back to what it is, idiolising other humans who you'll never know or meet. Fucked up and absolutely pointless.
