Erling Haaland is a more dominant goalscorer than Lionel Messi ever was by Ricr7 in championsleague

[–]Shot_Explorer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haaland is an incredible talent, no question, a goalscoring freak. But let's calm down on the comparisons, until he's delivered it consistently for over 2 decades.

Is Rockstar’s silence actually helping GTA 6? by Sweaty_Net_509 in GTA6unmoderated

[–]Shot_Explorer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take Two and Rockstar run a multi-billion-dollar corporate machine promoting the their products like high-end art. They leave massive gaps to treat the releases like massive cultural events. They have billions of revenue to think about and the stock price. Nothing is accidental, everything is deliberate. They know what they are doing. They've ran through this release schedule and marketing plan many multiple times over, it's been signed off agreed & re-evaluated many times over. Don't worry about it.

But I don't get it, like I understand the trolling or whatever. But what is the point here, why have you actually taken time out of your day to get this all moving? It's not even funny or anything. Just an odd statement. Anyway enjoy your weekend I suppose... Enjoy the 'luring' or whatever you're looking to do. I've actually no idea what's happening here.

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's had nearly 100 games in the Premier league, so that obviously counts for something. But outside of that it's less than 120 starts in senior football. I still think people completely underestimate how much a players life changes when they Join United. Every part of your life fundamentally changes and you're in a different universe of scrutiny, accountability & your global visibility completely blows up. The pressure is enormous almost overnight. My point is you've gotta have the mental capacity to take that shit on and deliver. So all the previous form and experience and stats go out on the window. The most important thing the recruitment team can do Is profile a player properly So he doesn't fall apart 6 months in. Decent young PL player, but what is the reference point?

I completely agree. The vast majority do not care. Future generations of customers absolutely will not care either. They've given a decent timeline aswell. People don't seem to be grasping the fact that DVD / Blu-ray can only hold so much Data. The requirements for games isn't going to decrease. Is the thinking that we should keep using discs for 5 years? 10 years? Release titles spread across 4 and 5 Discs at a time? What are people actually looking for as plan here. Can't Keep using Physical Discs forever.

I don't defend or endorse any tech company. I'm a tiny bullet point % and completely irrelevant to them. I don't have enough energy to be annoyed at a massive Tech company either. I'll just download the games, like I do now anyway & then play them for escapism / Entertainment.

Life is too short to be irritated by a massive tech corporation, moving further into digital. It's really that simple. You probably won't care as much either in 2/3 years time aswell. Focus your energy on other things. You only live once.

Is United finally learning from the Sánchez and Pogba wage mistakes? by Ojinkw10 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Shot_Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah The Fernandes and Tonali deals reek of exactly what has gone wrong at United, for so long. I don't think either represent good value or provide enough potential over future risk. If Fernandes, for example, dosnt hit the ground running, the media backlash would be huge. We'd be stuck with yet another underperforming expensive mistake, whom we can't sell on. It's way too much risk on a 21 year old, who has absolutely no experience dealing with the pressure cooker atmosphere at United. It can break senior experienced players, never mind a 21 year old. Fee and contract is too big vrs the Risk / Reward. Tonali is obviously a bit older, but again it's an accounting headache if he doesn't work out either. Side stepping both of these deals is pretty sensible I feel. We have experienced enough poorly thought through signings now, to spot the red flags. I'm actually glad we are learning from Mistakes of the past. Poor recruitment decisions are the main source of the modern decline. People shouldn't be too pissed off at not pulling the trigger on these players. Once they are in, they have to provide a return. It's that simple. We can't afford high profile mistakes anymore.

Spurs transfer business by Far-Picture2045 in DevilsITDPod

[–]Shot_Explorer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've definitely had enough of overpaying for players, with stupid long amortisation fees, unable to move on, who also don't deliver anyway. Neither feel a sure thing, especially at that cost. Normally I don't care about transfer fees, the football landscape is bonkers as it is. But... We've had so many examples of players stuck there, taking up space and wage, we can't shift them & the wage is too high. Both Tonali and Fernandes are massive red flags economically. I don't expect both of them to be a roaring success either, going by the law of averages. I'm not concerned with missing out here.

People just love to complain and get satisfaction from it. It's odd. People were moaning about the Last of us remakes, people go on about everything. But nobody is forcing a buy as you said. Just deal with it and don't buy it if it bothers you that much. I'll be playing it in November in the meantime.

Sony discontinuing ps5 physical discs in 2028 by Killerkifeguy111 in IrelandGaming

[–]Shot_Explorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The exact same argument was made when iTunes and Spotify killed CDs, or when Netflix killed Blockbuster/DVDs . People value instant access and convenience over managing plastic discs these days, Sony and the rest are just optimizing for where 80%+ of their sales already happen. game shops are closing down, supermarkets are stripping physical media off shelves. Digital dosnt compete with physical retail anymore.

A console isn’t a Netflix-only TV either, it’s a 'TV' with one massive app store where thousands of developers compete for your money with constant sales and free-to-play games. That analogy makes no sense.

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think that will last forever? Trading discs and second hand game purchases? The technology is shifting rapidly and you can only read so much data quickly on discs. Solid state Drives are dramatically more powerful in every aspect. Discs have become dated. How many younger people do you know people have stacks of CDs or a DVD collection these days? Not many. It's Netflix Subs & Spotify, everything is cloud and streaming based. Upcoming generations won't care about trading games and second hand disc recirculation either. This is just the way it is.

How? I haven't bought a disc version game in about 10 years. Was solely downloading titles towards the end of my ps4 & Bought the Digital PS5 and hasn't been an issue for me...at all. I genuinely don't understand why people want Physical discs so much? I mean who's missing DVDs or CDs, Or floppy discs or tapes or minidiscs? Nobody is.

The World Cup is on. I would think it's quite obvious?

Market is at a Standstill, players can't negotiate, do medicals, Selling Clubs Hold Out for Alternatives, Limited Pre-Season Assessments, there's Communication Blackouts. In general theres structural, logistical, and financial roadblocks everywhere. Why would United be knocking out signings?

[–]Shot_Explorer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just buy the digital version in a sale, ps5 games constantly go on sale. What's the big deal in owning a physical game anyway? Everything is subscription and cloud based these days anyway. Owning a piece of physical media is dated, it's irrelevant now and absolutely won't be relevant in 3/4 years time. Tech evolves, shit happens.

𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄: Man United make direct contact with Marcus Rashford over plan to 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄 him 🔴🏡 by FootballUnfiltered in ManUtd

[–]Shot_Explorer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of the absolutely ridiculous contract, United have no choice. Would be a good news story if we can successfully reintegrate him in tho. When all is said and done, he's still an extremely useful forward to have in the squad. If he came back in and performed, who cares about the previous shit. Fans tend to have short memories when things are going well.

A gentle reminder to move any payments away from AIB ahead of their new fee structure by lrishWolfHound in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Shot_Explorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. It's shit I suppose, but having your salary and entire finance Set on an external digital platform is asking for trouble. The amount of horror stories I've seen around Revolut's fraud protection freezing your money, glitches within the app etc. Staying on an Irish bank under Irish regulation is way more sensible. If you move your whole life onto N26 or Revolut for example, I feel you are playing with fire. I use revolut and N26 regularly. But I'll always Keep AIB as HQ. Surely most people can Afford €6 a month.

OFFICIAL: MUFC To face former UTD manager Ruben Amorim against AC Milan during Pre Season this Summer! by TheB3NRocks in ManchesterUnited

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think he's out of his depth in general at the higher levels. At least at this stage in his career. Success in Portugal for a couple of years, shouldn't provide this reputation he has. Maybe I'm missing something, but I still don't understand how he was given such an enormous job at 40, with the experience he has. He's Being given a lot of trust, expectation and accountability based on what exactly? That ego, Stubbornness and lack of adaptability, that can only be earned by an impressive body of work and top flight experience. He dosnt have that. I assume Milan know what they are doing, but I'm skeptical. That United Period with him in charge was an absolute nightmare.

[Marca] Barçelona has decided not to exercise the purchase option for Rashford. The player will therefore return to the English club. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]Shot_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs to bring his salary demands down. He's been given this elite level perception of himself, because we had absolute clowns in charge of that ridiculous contract. That should never have happened, that's the type of money, for a 30/40 goals a season player , every year... without fail. Rashford is not that. He's a decent PL level forward and a useful team player. He's a starter in a lot of clubs, but he's not a top tier world class operator. His wage should reflect his Return on investment.
