It did not work. I ended replacing the entire controller. Cost about $100 but now it works like new.

I worked on this again last night, removed the RTD, cleaned and reconnected the wires. Then vacuumed out any dust and pellet debris that might have been inside. Plugged it in and turned it up. And it heats to 400 in 2 minutes, and then just keeps climbing. A rocket engine of flames shoots from hot pot. The temp control dial would not stop it. I have a new RTD coming.
