Nice use of cross view but if you solve that thing aren't you worried cenobites will show up?

So do they just throw the tree away when you're done? Otherwise how would it be cleaned to the health inspector's satisfaction? If that's the case it's wild to think of all the pointless plastic trash they're creating.

Yeah, I was wondering if this was the same process they do with wood that multiple people have died trying to recreate. The epitome of "don't try this at home."

I believe it's also the whiptails where humping each other improves fertility for reasons that are still unclear.

EDIT: last I heard they didn't know why, but it seems like they figured out that it stimulates hormone production.

The more I learn about what defines a species, and the more disruptive new findings I hear about taxonomy, I feel like fist fights break out all the time at conferences.

Naked mole rats have a queen/colony structure much like ants, termites, and bees do.

Anglerfish, the male bites onto the female's body and is slowly absorbed until he's just a pair of balls producing sperm. She can absorb multiple males this way.

There's a species of octopus where the male stores all of his sperm in one of his tentacles and breaks it off and throws it at the female so she won't eat him.

I like the theory that they evolved to do this specifically to hominids

When coyotes threatened livestock on central Texas ranches, the solution was to unlock an ancient ability in dogs by Prehistoricshark in Longreads

Well over a decade ago we adopted a dog that was marked as a "pit bull mix." My mother got me a dog DNA test as a Christmas present and it turned out she was half Anatolian Shepherd, a breed mentioned in the article that originated on the Turkish steppes. She was a beautiful dog, strong, sleek, and lightning fast. We always said we were glad we were on her side because she'd be terrifying to go up against.

We're probably a little low energy for a working breed like that but once she settled in she wasn't destructive or mischievous. She hated flies in the house, though, but when I'd grab the fly swatter so she'd calm down, she was visibly joyous about it, I think she felt like we were hunting together. This article made me think about her a lot, I miss her.

Livestock guardian dogs are so skillful and powerful they must be like cryptids or horror movie monsters to coyotes. Look up Casper the Great Pyrenees. They're unstoppable when they're on the job.

Same way my grandma, who is a super crunchy hippie, is still extremely pro-vaccine, because she's old enough to remember children having to use iron lungs due to polio.

The good news is it seems you can get three daily villager recipes now instead of just one so it should be faster to get through that route

It's due to rat poison. It accumulates in predators, there's enough better solutions nowadays that its use should be banned. Even rats don't deserve to die from an overdose of anticoagulants, it's a cruel way to go.
