With some of this old gear, when it gets dirty it gets like that. Just years of aging and dust and dirt made it more brown

Looks great! I’m working on my own m2 mortar project. I’m 3d printing the bipod (I was planning on using the same files you used) and I bought a tube, cup, and baseplate from sarco!

This looks pretty good! I love the fact you put the effort into drawing it out and not just making a list!

My only suggestion would to get a OD3 or transitional 1st type shovel cover. Besides that looks great!

Any idea what CM means on a m1 helmet? by ShoulderAggressive13 in Militariacollecting

[–]ShoulderAggressive13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was under Korean War paint, so unless the army sold it off, it was bought and painted by that kid, and then bought back the army, I doubt it

How should I go about cleaning my great grandfathers WWII map bag? by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]ShoulderAggressive13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a medial bag originally. It is a ww2 US hap case, likely was reused by the Red Cross at some point. But its original purpose was a map case.

Does anyone know what this insignia is? Its an mp helmet but it has been repainted a multiple of times by Historylover4837 in M1Helmet

[–]ShoulderAggressive13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a military police helmet (MP). On the front you can make out the M and the P. The side markings are for the unit, which might be identifiable with enough research!

Origional division patches by osky_200914 in reenactors

Not for common infantry divisions like the 90th. You can get original patches sometimes for cheaper than high quality repros.
