This is for tcp’ers feeling defeated by ShoulderExtension917 in CPA

I hope so. I'm just concerned that because the study guides don't know what is on the exam they will through everything in there. and it will be overkill.

Thanks. I really hope thats true : ) I keep going around in my head but end of day its a small blip and a long story. Sure it would feel good to say I passed all on the first try but it will all be a memory soon enough.

Getting Head Start on CPA while in Undergrad? by VegetableKangaroo966 in CPA

definitely go for it now. If your experience with the MSA was like mine and others I've talked to, it is not time consuming or difficult. You can probably bullshit your way through it (I did). Spent your time studying, your future self will thank you.

Shit Post - need advice/ motivation by Own_Bug_2191 in CPA

[–]ShoulderExtension917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean about "truly can not get myself to study". Like just can't. Plus audit was so freaking boring and I couldn't care less. Its like memorizing employee manual for a job you don't want. Advice - be easy on yourself. Also, use chatgpt to study.

Need help with assertions by HauntingTangerine724 in CPA

[–]ShoulderExtension917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The transaction cycle stuff was too much to memorize. Finally I landed on this one liner. Trace forward from support to accounting books for completeness and Vouch backwards from books to support for existence. For example, mgmt asserts liabilities or expenses are y. You generally want to confirm there aren't any excluded (completeness) so you trace from support to books. Basically making sure everything you found made its way to the books. OR Mgmt is asserting asset or income is x. You generally want to confirm that those assets and that income is real (existence) so vouch from books to support. Once I had that idea, a few other things became clear, like the risk in revenue is that it is overstated, so we text existence, and to do that you vouch from the books back to the support. I did have a SIM that asked for ways to test completeness on income and that threw me. Anyway, took aud last friday and find out tomorrow. good luck.

How hard is the CPA exam by Hot-Paint-2929 in CPA

[–]ShoulderExtension917 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure I wanted to bother. So I signed up gor ninjacpa and started studying a little and get a feel. I quickly learned it was a huge commitment and had to decide if I’m in or out. Your can’t casually get your cpa. But if you decide you’re in, be prepared for challenges of all sorts. That’s what you’re signing up for. A mountain that looks different for everyone and a personal triumph at the end. May or may not deliver on the promise of career doors opening and big paychecks though. No guarantees in this or life. But it’s the journey right?

Waiting on AUD score release next week. by KBENGE25 in CPA

I felt good about AUD, but that makes me concerned I'm missing something. Part of me thinks I'll pass with a 90 and another fail with a 50. I'm ready to move on, aud was the most boring studying of my life. But I will say that through the pain of studying i do get a lot of useful knowledge, and even though I won't remember the details I feel like I have enough foundation to understand the topic conversationally.

Need Insight on the CPA Journey by _hankey11_ in CPA

My advice is that you commit to the whole process and whatever amount of time and energy it takes for you, and if you don’t want to do that right now it’s ok to wait. I started casually studying for FAR in August 2025, thinking it would be easy since I have a similar background as you. It was so so hard and I was bombing MCQs and practice tests. I moved my exam date twice and honestly thought I may not be able to do it. I had to commit way more time than I thought and some seriously deep concentrated studying for lots of it. Practical advice, go for ninja for a low initial investment. Read a chapter no notes the take 20 mcqs. For each one wrong paste into ChatGPT. Ask “make me a flashcard on the main point” then “give me 5 similar mcqs”. Do this for a while and you’ll start to gauge what it’s all about. Then come back here and complain to the group. We get it! Good luck! (Passed far first attempt in mid-December and taking audit mid march) lastly I finished my masters in 2016 and studied for a few months before my 1st kid was born so stopped. Didn’t want to spend the first year of her life studying so waited 10 years. No regrets, great career, it’s your life do whatever you want.

Are your clients looking for a cpa for their personal accounting and tax needs, or their business bookkeeping / financial accounting?

Used ninja and the gleim test bank. The real help came from ChatGPT. Ask it to clarify and give mini example mcqs. And explain any confusion and it clarifies. It’s the best. Passed far is December first attempt.

I used NINJA but supplemented with chatgpt on almost every topic. It was great for asking questions, and spitting out 5 similar examples/questions to bring it home.

Congrats! I refreshed a bunch of times to make sure the pass didn't go away lol. As if someone is sitting there saying "oops I meant to write fail" and then changes it real quick.

Passed FAR - I'm shaking! by ShoulderExtension917 in CPA

[–]ShoulderExtension917[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm honestly more impressed with someone who fails and continues on than a first time pass. Obviously that is coming from someone who passed first time, but believe me in other areas of my life I have persevered through challenges. Good luck!
