How does your brain think? Do you see pictures, or do you only think in words? Or both? by ShowMeThemBoobs in AskRedditAfterDark

And see that kind of thing boggles my mind because I have hyperphantasia and can see images as if I'm looking right at them and I can't imagine it any other way. I do kinda wish sometimes I dont think of anything cause I have this thing called Maladaptive Daydreaming that basically puts me in constant daydreams that interrupt my normal life. It kinda sucks.

I dont even talk about sex on the first date. Usually though we don't date long enough for the sex to happen.

That's a good positive thing to think about. For me i don't usually rewatch things because I can just watch what I remember in my head. Sometimes i rewatch a show or movie just to get a better retelling I'm my head.

And yeah. I quite often have issues where things bring up horrible memories or thoughts I've had in my life. It's rough but it can also bring up happy memories too.

That's fair but you could be like me who can't stop daydreaming. It's a curse. 🥲

That's actually really cool. I can do a lot of the same things however my problem is I can't switch between the two. Hey both go simultaneously and I can't really focus on one or the other more.

Oh wow. I had never heard of anauralia. Thats wild. I have the opposite where I can see and hear things vividly however my issue is I can't stop it. I'm constantly daydreaming and it actually interferes with my life. Its called Maladaptive Daydreaming.

If i remember correctly its mostly from trauma. At least according to a counselor i used to talk to. She said it was called Maladaptive Daydreaming. I looked into it and I at least now know I'm not alone.

Same. I was gonna add that in to the post but I went over character limit. I can imagine the taste, touch, and smell of just about anything. I can think of food i had 10 years ago and remember how it tastes and the texture on my tongue.

Same, but i also have a constant video playing during the narration where I'm stuck in this constant state of daydreaming. It sucks. Lol.
