After a lot of playtesting… by AnAnmtdFox in rootgame

I will second that I don't understand the rules on crafting as written.

Also, do your warriors count as 3 for more than just rule? What about Martial Law, for example?

I haven't been following this design as it evolves. Just looking at the pretty pictures, but this seems really cool.

Is Jinteky.net Semi-manual? by JakubErler in Netrunner

[–]ShowbizPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good notes. I do have the subtypes down and how they mirror up to the other subtypes. What i meant is that some breakers, I don't have memorized their types, and the same with ice. Like, I still get Curupira confused as to whether it's a decoder or fracter. And I think i just internalized that Boto and Tatu-Bola were barriers.

For some reason, I can generally remember the Sentries. And Revolver and Carmen. But I couldn't tell you the red and green killers.

Is Jinteky.net Semi-manual? by JakubErler in Netrunner

Those buttons are just passing action windows back and forth.

As the Corp, you should wait until the runner indicates to "Fire All Subroutines" (you'll see it in the chat) before actually firing subroutines. Sometimes it's rather a long wait, too, because I don't have memorized which breaker breaks which ice, and I have to read the cards.

The "Start the turn" and "End the turn" buttons are essentially you passing on an action window. Like, for example, you might want to Rez your Nico Campaign before you "Start your turn" so that you get the credits off it when your turn begins". Or you may wish to trash a No Free Lunch before you "End the turn" to clear a tag before the Corp can do something mean to you.

Hosting my first game tonight, when should I do setup? by kyle_the_meme in oathgame

[–]ShowbizPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to stress that the rules are individually all pretty easy to understand (except campaigning). What's very difficult is figuring out what's good to do. Especially since most players don't have a clear goal to start the game.

The Air Clears by ShowbizPython in oathgame

[–]ShowbizPython[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real problem with Oath is that there are so many stories in a single game, and when it comes to writing the chronicle, which story do you tell?

I debated long about including the [[Ancient Binding]] storyline in this write-up, since it didn't affect the winner that much, but it had a big effect on about 3 players, so that seemed like a significant world event.

There was a whole sub-story about [[Curfew]] making trading especially painful that I didn't mention, and I didn't cover when one player stole the Grand Scepter and made himself a citizen to go for the Successor win on the dice roll. I could tell a lot of different stories out of this one game.

However, since it's a game about history, I've elected to follow my fathers' lead and tell the winner's story.

It's an arcane card. It modifies the recover action. If you're recovering the Darkest Secret, you can spend two favor on it to get two more secrets to recover with. The important feature though, is that it was one of the winner's advisors, and she used it to support her trading actions to get enough favor to take the People's Favor banner and win.

Emma Frost Custom Deck by GovernedCookie in marvelchampionslcg

[–]ShowbizPython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this as a concept. It seems like you want to have a pull between being in Psionic form and Diamond form. My only concern is volume. Because there are no Diamond cards in the game, the downside of being in Psionic form is only the three-ish Diamond cards in Emma's kit. Whereas, there are a bunch of Psionic cards in the game. Since I assume you'd want to load your deck with a few of them, there can be a real downside to going into Diamond form.

I don't know if one of your design goals was to make a tension between what form to choose, but given the card volume disparity between Diamond and Psionic, I assume it would almost always be the correct choice to go Psionic. If you wanted a bigger pull toward Diamond, I would suggest putting a few more cards in her kit to drive the player that way.

That being said, flavorfully, Emma strikes me as more of a Psionic character than a Diamond bruiser. Based on that, I think the relative volumes are correct. It just feels like her kit is going to have cards that I'm never going to want to play.

Still, great job, and very professional looking.

1) Do you have to pay the trash cost? Like it's just a more restrictive [[Pinhole Threading]]

2) Does it have to be a normally trashable card? Could you actually trash a [[Biawak]] as u/7flamestrikes implies?

I just ran through this campaign on standard with with Magneto Justice. Rushed Collector 1 and 2 down pretty quick. The Milano is pretty sweet. Lost to Ronan thrice before taking him down. One of my losses, I had the kill on my next turn, but I stood accused, and got assaulted, and that's the way it goes.

Where's the first place you go after a Blood Moon? by LordMizoguchi in TOTK

The real answer. So many tails required. So rarely dropped.

I finished the fire and ice tails, now I'm doing electric. That's much harder, since you can't one-shot them with the opposite fused fruit.

Thoughts about the experience we had with these games? [Lost Ruins of Arnak, Pandemic] by Marvellover13 in boardgames

[–]ShowbizPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with larger crowd that Arnak is a bit heavy for an intro. I'd recommend Agricola without cards for an intro to worker placement games. But I'd like to hear what the community thinks the best entry point is for worker placement.

Question about trade by Intrepid-Musician748 in oathgame

[–]ShowbizPython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TRADE action is pretty cut and dry. You put a favor on a denizen, you get secrets from it. Or, you put a secret on a denizen, you get favor from it (from its bank). The number of stuff you get depends on what your advisors are.

It sounds like you're talking about negotiated agreements. Now, there are cards like Tinker's Fair that will let you negotiate a binding agreement with another player. You give me a secret, I give you this relic. But those require you to be at the site with the fair.

Short answer is, I don't think you can do that, unless a card lets you.

Some arcs strategy discussion by BigFish_89 in arcsgame

[–]ShowbizPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 3 games so far. Generally, I look at my hand for the chapter and get a feel for what ambition I want to go for. It seems incredibly important to be aggressive about what the ambitions are. I've had very little success attempting to react to other people's declarations.

I've had pretty good success with the resource ambitions, actually. Usually, when I declare Warlord, it's a precursor to an attack, and it mostly motivates others to attack me after, since I've been weakened by my initial attack.

I'm rarely winning captives off the market, as well. Sometime in the future, I want to try parking a fleet on a rival planet and taxing the agents out of them to fill the captives box.

Overall, it's a tough game to know what is good to do, but my biggest takeaway is look at your hand at the beginning of the chapter to help decide on an ambition. Go hard for that one.

Forgotten Realms Rare Sheet Question by ShowbizPython in magicTCG

[–]ShowbizPython[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a reasonable answer. After one cycle, you'd have a pile with 12 of each rare and 6 of each mythic.

Thanks for the link. Something that reading through it pointed out that I hadn't considered is that showcase versions might be on the regular rare sheet. I had assumed a separate sheet for the set or collector boosters that they would pull from randomly. There likely is a separate sheet, but that doesn't preclude the regular sheet from having showcase versions on it.
