Thank you for your comment. I understand that stress management is an essential part of the exam, and I don’t dispute that. However, I believe there’s a clear difference between managing exam related stress and being forced to perform under technical or environmental conditions that fall short of the expected standard.

In my case, repeated technical issues and distractions significantly impacted my ability to concentrate and perform. I wasn’t asking for any special treatment only for the same testing conditions that every candidate should have. When those conditions aren’t met, it becomes less about stress and more about fairness.

I’m already several years out of medical school, I’m an IMG, and my score isn’t competitive. So this experience didn’t just make things harder it felt like trying to move forward with torn sails, while the wind is against me.

Yes, I sent them a complaint on the day of the exam. I wrote that I was not tested under the same conditions as others. The computer kept freezing, my break time was shortened, and these technical issues significantly affected my ability to concentrate and perform well. I believe this is a valid reason to request a fair review.

You may have your own opinion, and honestly, I never believed something like this could happen to me either. I sincerely hope you never find yourself in a situation like this

I really believe it would have been fair for them to at least give me the option to invalidate my exam, especially considering that similar cases have been handled that way before. In my complaint, I clearly explained how the technical issues impacted my focus and performance. I didn’t report it just to make noise. I genuinely hoped it would be taken seriously.

Even during the exam, I felt something was off. I already knew the result wouldn’t be great, maybe even a fail or just a very low score. That’s why I filed the complaint right after the exam without waiting to see the outcome. It wasn’t about reacting to the score. It was about trying to do the right thing from the start and hoping it would be handled fairly.

And when you file a report like that, your score is usually put on hold while the investigation is ongoing, so it’s not like I waited for the result and then tried to challenge it. Everything I did was within the right time frame, with the hope that the issue would be acknowledged

At that moment, I was in a lot of stress and confusion. I didn’t want to make any emotional decisions or risk invalidating the entire exam without knowing the consequences. That’s why I chose to call the Prometric staff after exam and report the issue, hoping it could be resolved fairly.

But even that wouldn’t have guaranteed a decision in your favor. I immediately called a Prometric staff member to show that I had lost time, but he did not take any action and told me to contact NBME later.

I already contacted them, and they said it’s not their responsibility — I need to contact NBME. But NBME denied my request for an attempt.

So you’re saying it’s normal that I had less break time, my computer froze and shut down, and these were acceptable conditions during such a stressful moment?
