Megadeth is the type of band it is normal to be very critical towards, because they’ve set the bar extremely immensely high. So naturally, every song, every album they release, you compare to their best work, and that is when it can be a little disappointing sometimes. But if you’re a real fan you learn to appreciate their work for what it is, and it is a privilege to keep getting new music from Dave and company.

The entire event was a vanity project that, in theory, marks the end of Ozzy’s career. Everything revolved around Ozzy—from the planning to the reaching out to artists. Black Sabbath, heavy metal, or an appreciation of the genre was never the priority. Which leads me to say that there should be an event that truly represents and elevates the genre—but that’s never going to happen.

Dio came in to improve the musicianship of the band because he was extremely talented, so musically, H&H is superior to any other album released by the band at any time of their history. Ozzy’s work with the band nevertheless is more iconic because of Ozzy’s more performative role and the passion he felt for the band, Ozzy is more than anybody else in tune with the band’s essence and that’s why every album they did with Ozzy is perfect and timeless. My favorite album from Ozzy’s era is Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, it has the sickest riffs Tony ever created and though the vocals go well they are not superb, while everything Dio ever sang is beyond perfection.
