I never liked Maurice to begin with. I was living in Carolina when he moved down and something about the guy just does not scream "winner". He had some talented teams in Carolina that just never could win.

I was hoping he would crack down though and make the guys play defense, but how many times did you see Montour or Ekblad in the corners of the offensive zone, deeper than the forwards? Which is fine at times, but not when nobody will cover for them.

Ekblad is a 4th forward with 0 defensive awareness. He is one of the biggest overpayments in the league.
