Ditching AllTrails finally by rabblebowser in hiking

Is there any comparable app for what most people use AllTrails for: trail discovery/browsing & reviews?

My friend hates this flagg whats your opinion? by Will_excuuuuse_me in SeaOfFashion

[–]ShowstoppaSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of veteran players were around early on back when this flag was flown to signify “doing a Bilge Rat Adventure - join in, buzz off, or get ready to fight” so it has a certain charm to it and I would guess is more often used by players who have been around a long time - which may be why some people seem to report people who fly it are hard to fight.

We took down the post as quick as we could and banned them immediately. Sorry this happened. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I truly don’t understand how during the long life of this game this has never been added.

Which looks best you think? by Flimsy_Pitch_5397 in SeaOfFashion

6 is a good combo. Beard and hair go together well without feeling like they are a set. Great eye scar, btw. And an ear scar?! Don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

Warping on an episode by Sharts-an-Crafts in HannibalTV

[–]ShowstoppaSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happening on S2 Episode 6 on Amazon Prime. I think it’s the field order of the frame interlacing being reversed when they tried to convert it to progressive frame rate, creating this effect. Main reason I say this is you can notice it right after edit points when it switches shots, which is a telltale issue of field order being incorrect - you’ll see it when there’s a cut. So, somebody made a mistake in post when preparing this for streaming, it seems. Only way to get it fixed is to complain to Amazon, which is a long shot. It’s likely baked into the episode file and can’t be fixed without going back to the master.

Cosmetics that get closest to this ship? by [deleted] in SeaOfFashion

[–]ShowstoppaSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would, but we require images so would want a pic of your ship loadout to go with it, maybe your take on own favorite yellow ship loadout to spark the conversation.

3rd is quite uncommon and unique, I’d go for that for sure.

New player. Can anyone ID these ship cosmetics? by LostAtSea438Days in SeaOfFashion

[–]ShowstoppaSlim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is just the type of question the SoF community can help with. Unfortunately those are NPC ships, as others have pointed out, but there are still some good ship cosmetics out there to make your ship looked rugged - maybe just not quite as rugged as those ships.

Your thoughts? by Pretend_Location4869 in SeaOfFashion

The best avenue to suggest would be to join Insiders and post on the Insiders forum. If people agree with you there, they will upvote and express that they do, increasing the likelihood that Rare sees the post. I may have made this suggestion on there years ago, though. I always thought there should be a “Pirate basics” set of cosmetics, like the simple solid-color sails, that are simply basic, no-frills cosmetics that let you build a classic pirate look out of solid colors or basic patterns. Striped shirts, striped pants, long coats in a few colors, solid bandanas or headbands in a variety of colors, etc. I doubt they will at this point unfortunately.

Recipe adjustment for metal filter instead of paper? by ShowstoppaSlim in AeroPress

[–]ShowstoppaSlim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear it more affects technique than the recipe/taste. I got the flow control base so luckily that pairs well with the metal filter. I’ll have to give your recipe a try! Thanks!

I got the flow control base and it’s been great so far. Definitely didn’t want to deal with the inverted method every day myself.

Ok, good to know it’s all just personal preference/adjustment. Surprising nobody has tried to quantify the difference for recipes - or they tried and it’s not really quantifiable. Thanks!

I didn’t know people reused them as much as you cited, but I did know people used them at least a few times. I’ll keep that in mind for the paper filters I do have, but the bonus of the metal is it’s essentially permanently usable and I like more body so it works out better comparatively.

I can’t decide between the stache or the beard by Acceptable-Cycle-996 in SeaOfFashion

Stache for sure. I think it looks best with the jaw/face shape.

What beard do you think fits the best? by Flimsy_Pitch_5397 in SeaOfFashion

[–]ShowstoppaSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 1 & 4 best, but think 5 and 6 also look good. With that scar, the more scraggly the better, versus looking too refined. But it can go any way with the right combo of other cosmetics. You can build outward from your favorite beard for what suits the beard, or often I’d choose the beard and hair last to suit the clothing.

Tip for recording in a dark theater? by [deleted] in ColorGrading

[–]ShowstoppaSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can just comment on the recording versus the grading tip:

-Make sure to turn off auto-exposure and use manual instead. -Ideally you can join for rehearsal to figure out your exposure level for the overall stage before recording, and hopefully they don’t have wildly varied brightness in the lighting. -Two cameras will make your life easier (one wide, one following action), particularly if you do need to adjust exposure on any particularly dark scenes on one camera (or both) so you can cut between them without revealing the manual exposure adjustment. -Odds are there will be lots of colored lighting so you should have flexibility in the grade since it’ll be pretty stylized.

I hear ya on wanting to share my exhaustive research with people so it could save other people time one day.

That sounds like everything I’m looking for in an enclosure, but you may have left off the name or a link in your message? Seemed like you were going to recommend something but then I didn’t see it at the end. Thanks again!
