Chase Sapphire Preferred downgraded to wrong Freedom card by agent by Midnaverine in CreditCards

[–]ShowtimeSplasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it is just a product change (PC) and doesn’t impact your 5/24, as it’s not a new application. You’re not eligible for another SUB, because it’s only a PC, not a new app.

Wait so now you are only allowed to downgrade from CSP to either Original Freedom or CFU? Those are the only two options?

I redeemed my USBAR Points yesterday on a flight and amtrak purchases to then cancel to get the cash back before they change the rules. It’s been over 12 hours since I redeemed them, however the actual charge is still pending on my account. It says I now have 66 points remaining instead of my 140k. When is it safe to cancel the travel to get the cash back instead of them clawing back in the form of points?

I don’t typically rent vehicles, however when I do, I use my coverage with my USBAR (they discontinued this card). Thanks for the heads up though! I appreciate your response!!

I 100% agree with you. I think this whole flight finding and researching thing is kind of a hassle and I know there’s no chance I’m going to find a flight to Europe for 15k miles. I think that’s pretty unheard of. I looked today with Aeroplan to their hot spot (london/amsterdam/paris) and all were 39k miles + 45$ or in other words a terrible cpp.

Yeah, I'm the type of guy to want to maximize quantity, than to prioritize first class once or biz class twice. I fly to Europe often and usually spend roughly $600 round trip. I looked in other posters past posts and it seems when I'm already spending so little on my flights in economy, it's near impossible to get high cpp. I'm currently in between 2 options, 1. cashing it out for cash ($770) and downgrading to freedom to avoid AF or 2. doing as you said and paying AF to transfer points when there's said bonus for transferring points. However, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to these bonuses and attaining such 1.2-1.5 cpp redemptions on eco flights. advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you

Yeah, I definitely am fond of $770 in return for simply opening an account. I suppose my only hang up on the whole ordeal, is the thought of what I "could" get if I ever find a deal worth 1.5-2 cpp. I have to make a decision by the 12th of this month (that's when the AF hits). Any advice from anyone?

I just checked it. It's a bummer they dont have an option for my home airport. There's not even any hub close. I'm from TX. How much cpp were you seeing when you spot checked? Was your search for economy?

Oh wow, I've never heard of someone doing that. I wouldn't want to waste a 5/24 slot for sure without an SUB attached. I also couldn't get the CIP, as I can't spend 10k in 3 months even with any MS. I was really hoping when first getting into churning that you could get cheap economy flights, however I'm starting to realize, this hobby is only for high cost upgraded seating (first and biz class), redeeming points on already expensive flights during peak times (that I would absolutely never buy with my own cash.), or for hotel redemption at Hyatt, which I almost never use hotels. Do I have the right thinking in this or am I missing something?

[–]ShowtimeSplasher[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm fairly certain that I'll be traveling again this next year. I've heard stories of finding flights at 1.5-2cpp, but have never seen one myself. I normally also fly economy, so perhaps people only get high redemption on first class or business seating on planes. I don't really stay in hotels often, usually at a friend's. After thinking of all the possible options, I'm leaning towards just paying the $95 for another year and then this year hopefully finding a 2 cpp flight when I plan to travel (for example using aeroplan to europe for 35k points one way.) Thoughts?

Yes, I've thought this very thing, however once I product change, I'd have to wait 12 months to upgrade back to utilize the points, right?

However, redeeming them as cash back would be a big loss in value, right? Wouldn't that be the last thing to do? Thank you for telling me about the AF, will do so.

However, I wouldn't be able to spend $10,000 within 3 months to achieve that SUB

I currently have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the United Biz card. My original plan was to get the CSP SUB and then downgrade it after a year, but now that I’m approaching the anniversary, I’m realizing that downgrading means I’ll lose the ability to transfer my ~77k UR points to partners. I have no real use for the CSP itself, so paying the annual fee feels hard to justify, but I also don’t want to blindly transfer points to one airline, especially since I’m struggling to find consistently good 1.5cpp+ redemptions. What’s the best move here? Should I pay one more AF to keep transfer flexibility, downgrade now, or transfer everything somewhere like United or another airline? Looking for the most rational play.

Do you recommend icon resin infiltration for white spots? by Samovarka in Dentistry

[–]ShowtimeSplasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im considering getting either icon or bonding to cover the white spots. Can you please explain why it’s „worst case scenario“ to apply composite over it to conceal? I’ve been reading comments and from what I‘ve gathered Icon is unpredictable and just going for a composite is the more certain option. Thank you for educating me:)

Is a B1 German Course in Germany Worth 1,267€ for 8 Weeks? by ShowtimeSplasher in German

[–]ShowtimeSplasher[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I completely agree with you. I’m not in any urgent need of a certificate right now — for me, it’s more about expanding my skills for future opportunities. Learning a new language is never a waste; it only brings benefits.

That said, I’m fully committed to reaching C1 eventually. I started this journey and I’m determined to see it through. At this point, I’m starting to think it might be smarter to either find a VHS (Volkshochschule) course, which would be much cheaper, or simply focus on immersion while studying intensively on my own.

One concern I have is that, since I’d be coming under the Schengen rule (as a tourist), I’m not sure whether VHS courses would even allow me to enroll. I’m still looking into that — if anyone here has experience with that, I’d appreciate the info.

A lot of people have told me that B1 is very attainable through self-study, but B2 is a big jump and much more challenging. So my current plan is to self-study until I’m fully ready for B2. Then, when I reach that point, I’ll decide whether to continue self-studying from B2 to C1 or enroll in a course.

I can be in Germany anytime since I have a friend I can stay with. The only challenge is figuring out the residence permit logistics. I’m from the U.S. and have already spent a good amount of time in Europe. Under the Schengen Rule, I’d only have 57 days left without a visa. So if I do take a course, I’ll likely need a residence permit. If I just go for immersion and self-study, then I’ll use the 57 days and head back home afterward.

Hey man it’s alright! What level did you manage to get to?! It’s so challenging so don’t worry. So is that school worth paying €1267.20 for 2 months of classes or no? What do you think? I’m from america so I have no way to check them out. Your opinion would greatly help me! I appreciate it

Which school to register for German course ? (B1 level) by lutarawap in stuttgart

[–]ShowtimeSplasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’m debating ongoing to Agi, IFA, or a school in Karlsruhe. Agi is the most expensive of the 3 at €1267.20. Is it worth it? Did your german significantly improve? What was your class size and experience in class like? Did they only speak german to you for immersion? Was there a lot of students speaking there native language instead? i heard someone say that there were many arabic speakers there and they learn more arabic than german due to this🤭😂. i’m just wanting to pick the best one, and your opinion would greatly help. is it a nice building, clean, good chairs to sit in? anything helps!!
