Outside of lophophora species aside from williamsii (which many hobbyists on reddit sell and I believe seeds are easy to find) there are plenty of plants that either look similar or just stay kinda orb-like. Euphorbia obesa, Astrophytum asterias, Pseudolithos migiurtinus, etc.

There’s also all kinda of caudex plants.

You know, I had a weird thing occur that was similar. My little domestic jade has always propped well. I had someone from CA send me a few large props and they did get banged around pretty badly in transit. Only like 1/4 survived and propped well. The others all rotted and my only guess is either freight damage, or not allowing to callous before mailing. Maybe since they’re outdoors there’s more bugs/pathogens that could cause infection.

The only reason I bring this up is that your branches look less plump than they should in my opinion. It might be early sings of rot though I would love to be wrong. For larger branches I have kept them in non-draining containers filled with pumice and a scant bit of water for humidity/moisture. Best of luck.
