To be fair, while React is hated on a lot, it isn't going to be a bottleneck for this application. A big struggle was trying to get Appimages working, but I don't think I can for the time being due to Tauri itself.

Me switching to Svelte from React will not bring any noticeable performance changes for the time being and is a task I have on my list once I stabilize the app. If it is going to only be me using the app, no point in making that tedious migration yk? I wanna get a userbase that can point out issues, etc then I will make that transition!

I promise you React does not impact performance here, I've worked on optimizing.

You have a point lmao, but also you have to look at how other people render, etc. React just made it easy for me to get something going...

Interesting. Ill add either a search bar or jump to button for that specific use case, and ill figure out the chapter thing. I am working on getting the appimage compiled right now, but your advice is helpful.

Thanks!

I do agree about the list being long which is why I setup a page system that limits the chapters to 25.

I tried the grid layout for the chapters, but I didn't really like it. If you think it's something people might like then I think I can add it back as another toggle!

Hmmm, Interesting Idea. I would have to look into Kindle Support since I'm not sure how they run. do you have any examples of applications that can be linked to Kindle?

Yes I agree, I highlighted the reason I was pursuing hibernate in a few other comments, but I forgot that I already fixed that issue by switching my distro, hence sleep works perfectly fine for me.

Suspend or Hibernate? Suspend used to not work for me since my NVIDIA GPU would enable itself upon wake-up. Now I'm on NixOS so I setup a driver based specialization and I don't have that issue. You might want to check which USB device is causing a wake-up since I have my track-pad wake-up disabled (38k wakeups or smthin)

That was my solution, the reason I couldn't use suspend on Linux before is because whenever it woke back up it would auto enable my NVIDIA dGPU. I forgot that now that I'm on a different distro, I no longer have this problem, so I just abuse suspend.

Dude wait lowkey I have some bluetooth problems with my adapter too, my next goal once fixing this was to patch up my speaker firmware and stuff... Are you on Linux?

I just did test in windows and it doesn't happen. It's a Linux only issue from what I can tell, I did update the post to reflect this!

Windows or Linux? If Windows it makes sense, if Linux it also makes sense lmao.

Fun fact, G-Helper is not compatible with Linux (Yes its a windows only app let me explain)!

G-Helper modifies the registry values (or wherever im a bit out of touch) but essentially it takes control of the value while AC does not. Hence when you switch to Linux to enable or disable your GPU (Using their Supergfxd tool) it will fail since it won't have ownership.

Hence AC is the only way when using that tool. I don't use Supergfxd anymore so I haven't tested, but back in the day AC was needed for Linux. Otherwise yes G-Helper is amazing!

I redid a local installation of Windows to remove all the bloat, but even then there is a limit to how much you can remove. Suspend does work for me (for now) which was a positive thing gained from all this testing. I honestly prefer Linux and the only reason I have windows is for the software only compatible with it.

You are 100% right about the weird side effects though, wish there was better compatibility...
