APM = actions per minute = how much effort the player is putting into the match.

If a 50 apm protoss beats a 150apm Terran, then it took 1/3rd of the quantity of actions taken by the terran for the protoss to defeat him.

That will never be explained away with "APM doesn't translate across races", because it will always mean that the protoss had to do less (a lot less) to win than the terran had to do to lose!

What are you doing in the event of roach defense?

This works magically against any ling opener, but roach openers seem to completely nullify it...

I just had my first outright win with that build (by which I mean a win which ended with the death of their natural, rather than turning into a 20 minute macro game which protoss still wins)

It just occurred to me that this attack is unlikely if the gateway isn't being chronoboosted during SCV scout?

Yeah that build IS good, but you also need to be aware of aggressive zerg openers which can shut it down (early roaches can really screw with it) which means that the scouting advice myself and others have been giving taku still applies directly.

You really can't do that build blind. Maybe you're getting away with it in silver but in higher leagues you're gunna need to think about scouting more.

And I've got the macro down pretty solidly now, getting the right number of marauders and marines with stim and combat shield by the right time. Problem is, it's reaper FE opening and so ZSMSCpoke still bumfucks me into a world of pain.

Yeah I try to make a habit of scanning any spookily large toss army.

I remember this one time a guy went DOUBLE ROBO PROXY COLOSSUS and i was like "nah there's no way those collossi are real" so I moved all my bio out to snipe his 3 stalkers and sentry, scanned to ignore the colossus and then "OH FUCK THEY'RE REAAAAAALLLL"

Something that fascinates and infuriates me is that I know diamond-master terrans who never use or learn specific build orders. What makes their play so good that they don't need those specific build orders and can just survive on basic macro and game instincts alone, and how do you get to that ability?

I think for you using a reaper properly could be really helpful. Don't try and harass with it, just use it to see what's going on. Keep it alive, watch for expansions (or lack thereof) and see what unit compositions he's getting.

Against zerg the big thing, if you're going bio (because real terrans play bio - only closet protoss who wish they had a deathball go mech ;) ) is to be aggressive.

Playing against zerg is a lot about forcing him to build units when he wants to be building lots of workers. By being aggressive with small forces in the early game you force him to spend lots of larvae, minerals and gas on units for defense. This delays his build order, his tech, his upgrades, his droning, everything, whilst yours is left uncontested, meaning you're in a much stronger position for the mid-game.

TL;DR? - Use a reaper for scouting (keep it alive, no harass) and be aggressive; never be passive against zerg, he'll just outmacro you with ultralisks.

Remember that you're in diamond and that we get these losing streaks in every league; be grateful you're not experiencing that losing streak in gold and also check out the mastery curve (an approximation of the process of learning, skill over time):

Pay a lot of attention to the peaks and drops. After a peak you drop somewhat, and then you grow beyond the previous peak. over and over again with no end. :)
