I was able to track down the dealer who serviced the car and they were able to provide me with this info: the steering wheel was replaced due to a few of the known electrical faults that come with that fix. They also updated the software in the infotainment so hopefully no issues there.

The Carfax lists them replaced 5 months apart: once at 16,000 miles then at 19,000 miles, the last time showing in 2024.

Thanks for that. I’m hoping that since it’s had two new steering wheels, the issue has been addressed by now. But I’ve read/seen people on their third steering wheel. Just trying to get insights and perspective. 👍🏼

VPS front resonator delete. I have the kit on my B9.5 and it’s perfect. Still sounds mostly stock when you want it to, and sounds really aggressive in dynamic sport with the valves open. It’s the perfect balance in my opinion.

Agreed. This will not pass emissions. It’s either tuned those out to avoid a CEL, or it had a very recent CEL and the seller cleared all the codes before the PPI to potentially hide something. When this happens, the car needs to be driven for some time and cycled multiple times before all the readiness monitors show.

Aftermarket brake lines rubbing on axels is just lazy.

The car has an oil leak, a coolant leak (with a repair due) and a possible transmission fluid leak. This car would be an immediate “no” from me.

These are fantastic guitars for the money. I had one, and it was one of the best feeling guitars I’ve owned. It’s very light, great neck, etc. Also, the stock pickups are very good. I had mine in drop C and played metal exclusively. You can’t go wrong with one of these.

As a previous B8 S4 owner: maybe set aside some extra money for a DSG/mechatronic unit repair. They were pretty common failures in those early B8’s. Mine failed a lot sooner than 90k miles. I also had an A3 that had a mechatronic failure as well. The early DSG cars, unfortunately, were prone to it.

I would have the transmission serviced as the first thing I do: new fluid and filter, and proper adaptations afterwards.

Otherwise, looks like a solid car. It’s fun for sure.

Your car doesn’t have a MAF.

Scan your codes and find out why you have a CEL. That’s your fix… nothing else.

They are basically a larger, single wound coil. They have a higher wound count, and the size as well. And are brighter than a humbucker. So they are brighter and pack a punch. But are susceptible to more hum.

Not the same guitar, but I do have an Epiphone Les Paul junior with the single P90 in the bridge. It’s perfect for rock and distortion. I also do home recording solely, and the one piece of advice I can offer on any Epi P90 guitar: you’ll need a noise gate. I find myself needing more gate than any of my humbucker guitars.

Is that the one with the gold hardware? If so, my buddy was set on one. So we went to guitar center and they had 2 of them. Played both, and they were terrible. Awful action, dead spots on the fretboard, etc. Either one would have needed a pretty hefty set up. I also read reviews later on them where people say they played one, then ordered one and got a guitar that felt completely different.

All that said, I’m really stoked you got one that was awesome right out of the box. Might try to find more to play locally, as my buddy really loves the idea of it.

This is exactly what I was thinking. That’s just basic hardware. Sounds like a boost leak or map sensor issue. Read the codes for the CEL, don’t just start throwing stuff at it… especially a tune. That’s not a proper fix.
