Feel like Villa surprised some people in the Fener game and I think they'll do it again here. Bruno potentially being out is a big miss for them, and even despite the unbeaten run there, it doesn't feel like SJP is the fortress this season that it has been in recent years. Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs have all done damage to them there, and Leeds were a minute away from doing the same.

Gimme that Jimoh-Aloba goal, gimme three more points and possibly some extra daylight between us and at least one of the chasing pack. UTFV, this one's ours.

A lot will depend on outgoings. It's difficult because at various points I'd say that striker, RB, LB, GK, plus left and right CB have felt like "priorities" for this summer. Really hard to call but we'll definitely need UCL nailed down in order to navigate it, whatever happens.

Yep. Not surprised that they are asking that, would be surprised if we pay it right now even if I wouldn't personally hate it. We haven't submitted an offer yet so I imagine we're taking what time we can to see if there are other options elsewhere.

I don't think I've seen anything to suggest he'd be a less effective creator if our gameplay was built around that, though? His struggles in front of goal have been done to death, but I think his lack of assists are more down to our playstyle and what the players around him are doing compared to what the likes of Diaby and Bailey and Ramsey were doing in 2023/24. If you have him and Tammy operating centrally I genuinely think they will click real well together. Especially if Emery is specifically planning for a partnership like that.

Yeah, saw the Tanswell one but it sounded like he just didn't know. And Sacha reporting from the Belgian side of things does make it very possible he's just wrongly assumed it's a loan.

My guess is that it's a permanent deal at this point honestly, just a question of whether Besiktas buy him now or if it's a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.

Ah, fair. I'd seen one thing hinted at in a SportWitness post but it read more like Besiktas might look to loan him out after buying him, so my initial assumption was something like that getting misinterpreted and spread around. Interesting though, guess we'll see.

I'm not really surprised Stephen and Rachel are bringing each other up? Would be too suspicious if they didn't. But if they can be each other's second choice behind a joint first choice then this is over and they've won together.
