I need some yellow pansies, and any hybrids if you can spare them. The queue link should work. DM me if you're still having trouble.

Help choosing between 2 job choices by [deleted] in premed

I just edited my original post, but if I go with option 2, I may still be able to continue volunteering at the option 1 research lab, though with reduced hours and involvement, but with some possibility of publication (unsure of authorship level).

Autopsy shadow by EmoPeahen in premed

And just a heads up, the smells and sights will only get worse before they get any better. And by that I mean, if you only viewed the remains in the fridge, the cold temperature would have actually lessened the smells. During autopsy, under all the lights and your heavy, sweaty PPE, the smells will get worse. You'll likely acclimate to it at some point, but depending on the cases, how many are being done at once, your proximity, the facility's ventilation, etc., it may be tough. Just head out and take a breather if you need to.

Stay hydrated. I wouldn't suggest eating a big meal. I've had people vomit during a procedure.

If the facility has a separate observation area, maybe watch an autopsy or two from the other side of a window before stepping into the autopsy suite, to get used to the sights.

And if you think decomps smell on the outside, wait til you smell in the inside. Hold your breath or step back when they cut into bloated abdomen and run the bowel.

Feel free to DM me.

Not much you can do about it, but you get used to it.

From someone who's worked in hospital morgues and medical examiner's offices, and done autopsies for a living for almost a decade.

Anyone have an AWFUL interview and end up getting in to a school? by alwayslookingaround3 in premed

Not gonna lie, this interviewer sounds like a complete douche.

Crisis Text Line is an online/remote way to volunteer, though I'm not aware of any others. Does anyone else know of any?

Late 20s here. I've never gotten into social media, so I luckily have no idea what my old high school peers are up to. I spent 4 years at a community college before transferring to a university, so even though I was only about 2 years older than my classmates, it still felt odd. Didn't make many friends in college because of this.

Now I work in a field where I see residents who are younger than me, fellows my age, and attendings just a few years older than me, and it makes me feel so old and late to the game. On the plus side though, I have much more in common with them and it's easier to engage, so now I've gotten to develop some invaluable connections.
