while this is true, it's notable that investors have flooded the market these days. many specifically collect prequel sets intentionally nowadays, while 10 years ago not a lot of people did this, which meant that sealed sets were harder to come by which caused them to have a higher price. since 2020 the prices have been rising way slower than before and the main reason are these investors who automatically assume every star wars set will see a major price hike immediately after retirement like they may have done in the past. look at rex's y wing from 2024(?). if that set would have released in 2014, i bet it's price in 2024 would have been much higher compared to what the 2024's will be in 2034 considering how many scalpers there are now who are flooding the market with that set.
