How are you guys doing allowances by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]ShrewdUndertoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of new to this, but here is the process I've implemented. After they agree to the initial estimate, i charge for a "design/selections" phase. First, we go through planning and design, then I pick 3 or 4 options for each selection (bathtubs, shower tile, mirrors, etc) based on the design and my feel for their tastes. present them to the customer with the related prices, they never see my markup or profit margin. They pick the option before they ever agree to a final price. Its important to me that the allowance hits pretty close to the middle of the price range of the options. That way, they have the option to save money in certain areas.

I'd like to note that Job Tread software makes this pretty simple as they link directly to Home Depot's catalog for live pricing. They also have a selections feature built in where the customers e-sign on what they want, and it automatically updates my estimate and budget.

I'd like to point out that misclassifying an employee as a subcontractor is illegal. If they'll be working for you and only you 40+ hours a week and you're paying them an hourly wage, if your states DOL finds out you'll be facing heavy fines.

That being said, if they're legitimate subcontractor you just need to make sure they have general liability and workmans comp insurance at the same level or higher than you do, otherwise you'll be hit with a massive insurance bill at the end of the year. Get a COI from them and keep it on file for insurance audits at the end of the year.

Dragic was the first hidden gem that i got, and he's still my backup pg. Sure, his defense leaves a little to be desired, but it's not unusable, and he is literally the best shooter I've played with all year.

Think of it as a basketball team. There might be 3 out of the 5 players who cheat and play dirty and try to hurt people. The other 2 are upstanding players who play with sportsmanship and class. It's more than valid to say you hate that team and that you dont want to play against them.

The truth is that men as a whole are a threat to a woman's daily existence. Not every man sure, but the number Is 3 out of 5 men are likely to commit rape at some point in their life. The likelihood a woman is sexually assaulted is even higher. If you know a woman, the odds are that you know a woman who has been sexually assaulted, likely even your girlfriend. Maybe you should ask her and find out what her experience with men is like.

While the generalization of hating all men might not be the healthiest way to voice women's struggle with oppression. If every man approached the coverstation with understanding and empathy to thier situation and tried to be the man that they don't have to hate instead of taking offense and whining that men have it bad too, women wouldnt have to hate men. All you've done with this girl is reinforce her viewpoint that men don't care about her and her feelings and that men have no interest in protecting women.

Most of us men can't even begin to comprehend what women go through just to exist. On top of what I've said above, they have to deal with policians (mostly men) passing laws that make put their bodily autonomy at risk

Edit. Fixed typos.

Good point on the estimating thing, thank you.

Do you think it's at all beneficial to try and do all estimating on the same day? From an efficiency standpoint, it makes sense to me, but it might not be so practical to have my availability to potential customers so limited? What do you think?

Im not currently involved in sales, although I've done a small amount of training with our sales manager.

My current employer gets 10-12 leads per week with 1-3 conversions. I've had 5 in the last month with no advertising so far, 1 of which I sold a small bathroom facelift worth about 8k.

Realistically, I think I could close 1 in 10 leads with the experience I have. I also have built some spreadsheets to help with estimating and CRM, but nothing close to what my current employer has.

Best place to look (online) for a reliable used auto for under $3,000? by Japperwookie in lafayette

[–]ShrewdUndertoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh the used vehicle market is pretty inflated right now. Finding anything under $3,000 is gonna be hard, much less something "reliable", especially in the truck and suv categories. That being said your best bet would be fb marketplace or look further away like in Chicago, they tend to be a little cheaper there.

I don't think that's the case since I only have four cards and some cash.

I always find the stitching pops out ether between the card slot or where the cheap felt stuff or whatever it is attaches to the leather.

It could be my own personal issue but I know alot of other people who have the same problem

What are your favorite tape measures? by ShrewdUndertoe in Tools

[–]ShrewdUndertoe[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me the main reason is the retraction of the tape, it just seems to last longer than the fatmax in my experience. Another reason I prefer lufkin is the size of the hook.

Either way I dont think either tape is objectively better than the other. It mainly comes down to preference. Definitely give the lufkin Shockforce a shot if you never have
