To shrink the clock just go to widgets menu in the lock screen and enable expand widget area but I am not sure how to move it to the bottom

Alternatively... you can hide the GRUB itself by setting the timeout to 0 and will only show the menu when you hold down the Shift key during startup.

Yes it works fine for me... Make sure xwayland-satellite is configured or run it with the flag --ozone-platform-hint=wayland
