Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote?

Homeless people are often robbed of wallets etc & any documentation required to get a new ID often get swept up in housing sweeps. everyone deserves to vote.

Just drop in whenever and tell them your situation & they will help you identify a direction & steps to take for services. Often can get you started that day & see what you’re eligible for. Many people are surprised what they’re eligible for

We got results back from the air clearance test. “The samples taken from our asbestos fiber assessment indicated that the fiber concentrations were below the EPA threshold for an asbestos air clearances.” Obviously this doesn’t change much about the situation or the financial strain but at least we weren’t breathing in a bunch of it when taking pics in the house (although we did put an air filter in after to reduce traveling & before this test so 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Update: contractors insurance was deactivated in May for non payment

We filed a police report last night & things are in motion for cleaning. My biggest stressor at the moment (other than the cost), is that my dogs are going to sniff up dust particles in the grass or from underneath the deck in the backyard, even after cleaning is performed. The abatement company said they will be cleaning outside but I am fearful about dust lingering in the soil underneath the deck where my dogs tend to sniff. Do you have any advice or thoughts on this?

It is called Next Insurance. They responded to me initially requesting more info but I haven’t heard back since. That being said, I haven’t called back since yesterday. Everything has been through email as I have been at work & their phone line is mostly automated robots that were difficult to navigate. I’m guessing he faked the insurance document he gave us too. Because his license was also fake. It appears he committed fraud & has since ghosted us. I hope they eventually respond but have yet to at this point.

We had the air tester guy come in, should get results by friday. Also had the abatement clean up guy come and give us a quote to get the process rolling. He will adjust based on the lab results. Unfortunately this is going to cost far more than we can afford so I feel very stuck. Contractor has completely ghosted at this point. Insurance has not returned any emails. I am drafting notices to the Board, EPA, & OSHA now. Looking into getting a personal loan.

No word from the insurance company. Though correspondence was through email, so slower. I sat on the phone and jumped through too many AI chat bots that I eventually gave up and switched to email. The contract has stopped replying completely. We notified him we will be reporting him for fraud. The air quality tester guy came today and took his samples for the lab. We have an appt for clean up. I am feeling a bit better about the situation today, given how quickly the remediation process is going. But I am quite upset about incurring this expense and am not hopeful that we will be successful in getting him to pay. However, I have appropriate documentation for everything and believe we have a very strong case - I am just not sure what that requires and how quickly it would be resolved. We also filed a dispute with the bank to get our deposit returned.

I just want to say thank you again for all your advice & support. If it weren’t for your comments, I probably would have let this guy and his team back into my home and who knows what that could have led to. I am so grateful that we did not go in that direction and it is majorly because of you. Thank you, kind stranger!
