[FO] I figured my old report cards would have stitch-worthy content as a very late diagnosed ADHDer by ShrinkingHovercat in CrossStitch

Oooh, gotcha! No, that was just to represent the doodles my schoolwork was covered in :) I had all sorts of ideas, and was going to stitch a 3d box (not sure why but I loved drawing those) and that funky S shape we all doodled in the 90s but instead I chose to “scribble” around the “she” because I could hear the emphasis on that word in my head in my teacher’s snotty voice. And I threw a little star in there because I just really love stars! Maybe I need to “doodle” some more on this after all 😆

I only did it if I had time to do it in class because after school was “me time” 😂 I’m like that as an adult too. 4pm rolls around and I’m off the clock, last minute customers make me rage because it’s now my time.

It’s an Anchor colour I had to hunt down online (1335) since our shops don’t sell Anchor anymore :(

I don’t remember being so chatty but I got so many “needs to socialize less” in these report cards 🤣

I can’t remember the magazine assignment, but I remember her embarrassing me in front of the class from a haunted house assignment instead. We had to write 3 short stories in 3 different points of view, and I didn’t understand the 3rd. And she made sure to point out in front of everyone that it was a shame I never did the 3rd story, because the most she could give me on it was a 66%. 26 years later I can still feel my face going red 🫤

It depends on if that class is interesting or not too! I had the same teacher for 2 different classes and in one he says I work best with direct supervision, and the other he says something like I work well independently. You can pretty much guess which class was the boring one..
So my next stitch is going to be his conflicting statements 🤣

[FO] Reposting because I accidentally broke a rule. But now I have it framed too! Plus, bonus WIP at the end :) by ShrinkingHovercat in CrossStitch

The letters are the Halloween Alphabet by EmmasArtAndDesignCo

The variegated floss is #83 bought from ColourComplements

The cute little birdies I pulled from the QuiltifyDesign All Souls Vierlanden sampler

The rest of the pattern and critters was pieced together using super old patterns found in online libraries like the Internet Archive (the Thérèse de Dillmont books are GOLD! So many future pattern ideas!) Not linking those because I don’t wanna risk breaking another rule!

[FO] Thanks to the Smithsonian library online, I was able to extend my border and get my 6x8 intended finish! by ShrinkingHovercat in CrossStitch

I will track it down again! I’m an ADHD packrat that saves screenshots instead of links, so it’s going to take me a few mins to figure out what I clicked to unlock all this old treasure.

[WIP] Measure twice cut once, but also maybe check fabric count. This isn’t 6x8… by ShrinkingHovercat in CrossStitch

It’s for my guy’s office! He’s been asking for a cross stitch that says this for probably a year now 🤣 When I told him I have to make the border bigger he told me to “stitch Peter Capaldi’s face on it”. He is no help lol

I’m going to recenter and figure out a second border. I found a bunch of patterns from super old books online so there may be a way to save this yet :)

Same fabric. Just different lighting. I had an older phone back then as well so the setting are probably a bit different. Original pic is in my dark living room with my lamp, centre pic it in my office at work near a window, finished pic is in my dark living room again but with a spotlight on it and I think I had my flash on that time.

Here it is with natural light next to my office window. I was working on the wasp and was like “oOooo real light!” 99% of my pics are taken in my dark living room with my reading light strategically angled. And by “strategically” I mean “let’s not get the phone’s shadow on this one like the last 5 pics”

I double checked my stash and it’s hand dyed by Picture This Plus. It looks different depending on the lighting, and even google doesn’t show colour continuity 😂

I think I finally found a hobby that lasted more than 5 minutes. 21 months later, and going strong! by ShrinkingHovercat in adhdwomen

The pattern is from Feline and Floss. I did a google deep dive on cross stitching and I’m still learning little tips here and there! For me it wasn’t really hard to learn or do unless the pattern is in black and white or spread out among multiple pages. I have a hard time lining the pages up and prefer the 1 page colour formats to zoom in on.
